Gandalf the Lizard…

Multimedia message

Gandalf

When Jason and I visited the Houston Museum of Natural Science a few weeks ago, we spent time in the Cockrell Butterfly Center. While there, Jason went off to find Gandalf, the resident lizard. The very, very huge lizard. My regular camera battery was dead that day (even though it was on the charger all night), so I had to photograph him with my cell phone. The picture doesn’t do him justice – he’s huge!

Gandalf used to belong to a former co-worker of mine. She donated him to the Butterfly Center after he suddently bit her leg – quite seriously (I’ve seen the scar). According to the vet, he was feeling the mating urge and she was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
