No Wonder I’m Tired…

I’m sitting here on the comfy Ikea chair, feeling quite exhausted. I’m so tired. Why am I so tired? Oh, wait – I know why:

– Friday, I spent the whole day packing, packing and more packing. I have packed a ton of stuff so far with Mike’s help. Closing date is in 1 week, I’ll be moving within 2 weeks, and out of my apartment by March 25th. There is more packing in the near future.

– I took a break from packing to get some packing supplies and stopped to pick up “Scene It” at Wal-Mart to take to Emily’s house on Friday night.

– The game night at Emily’s on Friday was a blast! It was nice having the guys along for a change too. In attendance were Mike and Jason, Emily and KW (obviously), Ashley and Ralph, Kimberly, Kymberlie, Natalie, her husband Peter, her brother-in-law Adam, and the amazing and hysterically funny Sarah. Natalie & I were teamed up for Scene It and we WON! (Well, ok, Mike & Kimberly kicked everyone’s butt. But we won out of the rest of us, and it was a close race!) Kimberly and I got to spend some time talking about Mom things, and later Sarah gave me helpful hints on how to be a good Mom to a teenager. I’m not sure if I’m taking her up on the advice, but I will keep it in mind…

– Saturday we ran errands. I picked up some good Ray Bradbury books at Half Price Books for Jason & I to read – I’ve missed a bunch of them, and after I fell in love with Fahrenheit 451, I want to read them all. After lunch we went to Bed, Bath & Beyond so that Mike & I could register for gifts. Then it was over to Dillards to pick out a china pattern (Lenox Federal Platinum), then off to Williams-Sonoma to look for some things that Mike needed. While we were there, we picked up 3-4 items that we would have wanted to add to a registry – so we set up an appointment to register there too.

– This morning we went back to Williams-Sonoma to set up the registry. They actually let us in before they opened so that we had the store all to ourselves – how cool is that? The registry experience has been fun – we pretty much want the same things, with just a few minor differences. Mainly because I prefer to bake over cooking, and there are more gadget items that Mike wants.

– Last but not least, we found a store that carried the wedding band that we were looking for for my ring! It is technically a three-stone anniversary ring, so there wasn’t a matching band. Helzberg didn’t carry a “flat” band like I wanted, and they said they couldn’t order one or have their jeweler make one. So after some hunting, we have finally found another store that can get one for us. Just a 2mm flat band – nothing that hard, but no one has them. Mike’s comfort fit band was less expensive there too, so we got them all at the same time. (In case you are wondering, here are examples of flat wedding bands.)

– The rest of today has been spent … doing nothing. I’m too tired to do anything else.

All in all, I had a great weekend. We got a lot of things done, and Mike, Jason & I had a great time in the process. The weather is wonderful, and I really don’t think I could ask for more…

Those are really cool wedding bands–if I ever get married (ha), all I’ve ever wanted is a thin, plain band. Not even an engagement ring. I’m a plain jewelry sort of person. 🙂

Wow – has the weekend really been that busy? I discovered Sunday afternoon in packing up my office two things: 1) I held on to a LOT of crap that got sorted and dumped, and 2) I don’t pack well – I’m too ADD to start in one place and keep going. I’m amazed at how much we’ve gotten packed so far at your place – I’m working just to keep up!

Wow, makes my weekend sound like a walk in the park. 😉 I love Williams-Sonoma – I don’t allow myself in there unless I have a very strict budget and plan set up before heading in. It’s almost as bad as, say, going to a bookstore and not buying anything. 😉

Flat wedding bands are definitely awesome. Er, not that I’ve ever worn one or anything, but I’m a huge fan of simplicity, and I feel those rings look more elegant that most other wedding rings I’ve seen.

I finally went into a W-S a few months back. We live in a smallish town where the big stores like that are a little bit of a drive. You should get some nice things from there through the registry.

Sounds like a great wedding band, glad you finally found a jeweler that wanted to help you. 🙂 Amazing how many are not helpful, isn’t it? Hubby’s band was more than the entire wedding (20 years ago). I have a simple thin band I wear with my simple solitaire. I’m sure your set will be gorgeous! I hope we get pictures! 🙂

I really like the flat bands. When I got married a looong time ago I didn’t even think about what the band looked like. It’s round and gold, that’s all that mattered. I wonder if I can convince him to get me a flat one for our 20th anniversary?

Definitely a nice set of wedding bands. If I ever get married (errrrr, no thanks for me, but if it works for you go for it!) then I will definitely consider those.

The flat wedding band is what Kenny and I have. If I knew you were have trouble I would have directed you to my jeweler! My engagemet ring is squared off (flat) so I want a flat band to match. Plus, it’s easy to set some stones into it later like I have. Sounds like you had a good productive weekend!

christine – i have a ton of bankers boxes for you, but we’re not done fixing up Tom’s room (we’re looking to install wall-mounted shelves) and he has a lot of junk to go through and may need those boxes… i’ll let you know when i can pass those boxes to you, but i have a feeling i won’t be able to let them go until after you close! it’s a slow and drawn out process in my house…
