Mike here. (Ooh, I’m posting on her blog. Must not get giddy with the power…!) The surgery went well; Christine is sleeping it off at the moment. Nothing else too exciting to report. Thanks for everybody’s well wishes. Happy holidays!
Quick Update…
Just wanted to post a quick update. I woke up with a lovely headache this morning – I think because my Claritin D dries me out too much, so then it makes my sinuses hurts because they are too dry. I had to take it though, I was congested from being outside all weekend.
We got a late start Friday night leaving for our camping trip. I had had a meeting with a client at 10am Friday morning, and by Friday afternoon they were calling to set up services. Yeah! But not good as I meant to leave at 4ish and didn’t get to leave until 5:30. Ran home, changed, grabbed my bags (the car was already packed with the camping gear) and then went to pick up Jason. Got to the camp site at about 7pm, so we had the fun of setting up the tent in the dark. Thank goodness it’s an easy tent to set up, so with the help of 2 of the other Dads we got it set up in no time. We had a nice campfire, the boys went for a hike, the kids did some skits and we had a good time. I shared my tent with the other single mom and Jason & her son shared our short little tent together. (Our scouts can’t sleep in a tent with an adult that is not their parent.) Laura & I both slept really well. The weather was perfect for camping. Nice and cool, so in the snuggly comfort of sleeping bags we were both really cozy. Saturday morning we had group breakfast and then the boys earned their Forestry pin and Outdoorsman pin. We finished up at about 3pm Saturday afternoon.
Saturday night Chelsey came over so we could watch the shows I had saved for her on the Tivo from the week that she was at Disney World in Florida. She brought me a cool t-shirt and a set of blinking Minnie Mouse antennae lights that are pink with boa feathers underneath their heads – and when you turn them on they light up and flash. Very, very cool. Or as she said “very Legally Blonde”. They would have gone perfectly with the pink sequin bikini – now all I need to do is get a matching outfit for my cat.
Sunday, as a belated birthday treat, we headed up to the Rennaisance Festival. (I am going to try to go again next weekend with Nicole if the funds allow for it!) Again, great weather for it, the only time we were really hot was when we were standing in the sun watching the Falcon show. I *finally* bought a Sky Chair for my balcony. I got the all-weather fabric (since Houston is so damp and mildew-y) and the package that includes the arm rests, foot rests, and cup holder. Again, a great time was had by all (Chelsey’s boyfriend Doug came up to join us). By the time I got home last night I was soooo tired, I was falling asleep already by 10pm. (We stayed up too late gabbing Saturday night, and Thursday night I didn’t get any sleep since I was installing MT – so I was TIRED!)
This morning started off with me not being able to find my glasses. Anywhere. Arrived at the office to learn about the plane crash in New York. I am still not sure what to think about that – but I am watching the news just like everyone else. We had a meeting with a client at 10am that went *really* well. (They are interviewing 5 companies but already said they want us to make it to the round of the final 2 that get to present proposals). I have a few proposals to write this afternoon, but for now I am going to go home to eat lunch and look for my glasses some more. Isn’t it nice to live only 10 minutes from work? Tonight I will have to catch up on my reading, if I can manage to stay awake! I keep yawning… I also have changes to make here, want to take Zal up on her help with the cookies, want to move the other sites to MT too… but some of that is just going to have to wait until later this week. I’m still recovering from the weekend!

Oooohh… Dry sinuses (sinusii?) are my sworn enemy! I’ve tried everything to help alleviate the pain that is a parched sinus. And I have come to this conclusion: Ocean spray. No, not the cranberry juice. If you go to your drug store and look in the section with the Afrin and other nose sprays, you’ll see one that’s a rather plain-looking white bottle w/orange. It’s called “Ocean” and it’s a nose spray. And it is wonderful. It’s just saline (I buy the generic, now, and it’s great too)… and it makes your nostrils happy. Try it!
Your camping trips… are they through Boy Scouts, Indian Guides, or what? I have never heard of clubs where single mom’s are allowed to do these type of activities with their son.

Oh good to hear, good luck in recovery dear. Best wishes I am sending you way. ^_^
Christine, hope you feel better soon! I had a CP Release surgery a few years ago, the recovery time wasn’t as long as I had anticipated it would be – so hang in there, you’ll be knitting and stamping again soon!
Christine, I’m thinking about you! Good luck and remember to rest lots and let the Hubby dote on your every need and whim. Or at least get lots of rest! 😛
Wishing her a fast and well recovery!
Michael, don’t let the power go to your head!
Christine, we’re keeping all fingers & toes crossed for good luck!
