It seems like the French got a wake-up call. They were Alarmed by Anti-Tobacco Ad. I’d have to say the ad was pretty effective and got the attention it deserves – which is a good thing. Even as a young child I wondered why people smoke when it can cause cancer and so many other illnesses. I took my mom’s carton of cigarettes and hid them from her because “they will kill you.” Not wise to mess with someone when they are craving nicotine… (Fortunately, years later she stopped smoking with the help of the nicotine patch.) Someone on the news was just saying, “It’s a wake-up call for our country…” Yes, you are so right. It’s a wake up call to stop convincing ourselves that we are immune. There has never been an attack, especially not of this magnitude, on American soil. Pearl Harbor was an act of war aimed primarily at battleships. This … this is more like what the rest of the world deals with constantly. Every other country has had war on their soil. I hope that our time has not come yet, but I am afraid it will come.
The world as most Americans knew it has definately changed. Our eyes have been opened.
