Today, my friend Katy & I set off on a knitting adventure. She had told me a few weeks ago about Twisted Yarns, a LYS (aka Local Yarn Store) about 20 minutes from my house, and today was their First Anniversary Sale. All of the regularly priced yarns in the store were 15% off – how can you pass that up?
Of course, when you go to a LYS, you must wear something that you made. Katy wore an absolutely gorgeous sweater vest, and I wore the only project I have completed so far – my Pink Power scarf. Shortly after we arrived at the store, one of the nice ladies working there commented on Katy’s vest. Katy started to introduce me to her, and I said that I had made my scarf. She said that she liked it, and then she paused … and then she asked me if I had a blog because she had seen my scarf already this morning!
I almost did the “Get OUT!” move, complete with the push, but you know what? That’s just not a nice thing to do to someone you just met.
So today, not only did I get to procure fabulous yarn, I got to meet Janet of Planet Janet! (Interplanet Janet, she’s a galaxy girl!) She, along with everyone else at Twisted Yarns, was so helpful! I now have enough yarn to make plenty of projects!
– GGH Bali in Col. No. 40 (royal blue) to make the “Simple Cardigan” from Sally Melville’s book, The Purl Stitch
– Noro Kureyon Col. No. 134 to make the Booga Bag
– Cascade 220 in Col. No. 2410 (purple) to make the Sophie.
– Sockotta in Col. No. 621 to make socks! (I am going to take a class for this in the next few weeks.)
I went there with my heart set on getting some Collinette Prism, and the Blue Parrot color was absolutely beautiful, but it was a heart stopping price of $25+ per skein. I just couldn’t do it. Not yet. Maybe as a reward once I get through all of my other projects. Maybe I should have a knitting fundraiser to help foot the bill?
Dude, Janet recognized my scarf. From my blog. I mean … how cool is that? I love it when the Blogosphere and reality collide!

Sister. YOU are a woman obsessed!!! (Is this better than eBay though? Hee.)
I have to make that bag! That is the coolest design for a bag I’ve seen in a long time!

That’s so cool, Christine! 🙂 The Sophie is cute!
Christine, Could that possibly be the beginning of a yarn stash? LOL Welcome to the club! I pigged out on Colinette yarn when I went to the UK Knitting & Stitching Show a couple of years ago. She has some of the most scrumptious hand-dyed yarns ever. (Living in the “Yarn Deprivation Zone,” I have to rely on my yarn stash, so I have a rather big one. Kof!)
