I have seen A Sunday on La Grande Jatte by Georges Seurat in person. Have you? It’s so amazing that a painting that looks so normal from a distance is nothing but dots. Lots of dots. When I lived in Kankakee, IL we had a trip to The Art Institute of Chicago for my art class. I love museusms – art, history, science – it’s all wonderful to me. Ok, I’ll confess. Whenever I watch Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and Cameron is looking at the painting up close – so it turns into dots – I yell out “I’ve been there!” Well, I only yell if there is someone else in the room – I would be silly if I was alone and yelled out like that. I do the same thing when they are at the top of the Sears Tower. Then when they lean against the windows I say, “They would NEVER let you do that!” So, I’m a dork. What’s your point? It’s still a cool painting.

Tracy’s quote generator thingie at Time For Your Meds is really quite cool! I looked at the site she links to for the code, and I don’t see it? Hmmm. Well, Naomi just bribed her PHP-PimpDaddy to write some PHP for us to pull randomly from an ASCII file of quotes, so many that’s will accomplish the same thing. I have collected quotes for years and I want a way to randomly display them here.
Wow, that’s cool!
Clairol has a “try it on” section to their site! How is that for cool? I am going to have to play with it. How fun! (Thanks to Mended with Glue for the link!)
It’s still Friday, Right?
Then it’s time for the Friday Five from smattering.org!
1. Do you have any rituals or ways that you celebrate autumn (or spring for those in the southern hemisphere)? Decorating a pumpkin for Halloween & putting out the other Halloween decorations. I don’t like to carve our pumpkins because with the nasty humidity here they get all gross & rot! Ewwww…
2. Do you observe Halloween, Samhain, and/or All Saints’ Day? Halloween and this year All Saint’s Day will take on new meaning because that was my Grandfather’s birthday, although I have always recognized it in a prayerful way.
3. Carve pumpkins or paint them? Paint. I hate getting all the goop out of the inside (although I love roasted pumpkin seeds) and they rot too fast here in our humidity.
4. If you observe trick-or-treating, what will you be handing out at the door this year? No, I will be out trick or treating with Jason! Since we live at the front of my parent’s neighborhood we go to their annual Halloween parade & party and then trick-or-treat here in their neighborhood while they pass out candy to the little munchkins.
5. How do you plan to spend your weekend? Hopefully a trip to the Houston Museum of Natural Science to catch the last of the Vikings: The North Atlantic Saga exhibit. Just annoyed that it is $13 for the two of us to go to that! Although on one page it says “Additional Ticket Required” and then on the ticket price page it says that the tickets include admission to the main exhibit hall too, so I guess I will survive. If we get paid tonight through direct deposit I am going to just get a museum membership. Then admission is free. Other than that our weekend will consist of the usual housework, some design work I have to finish up, and just chillin’!
Kymberlie’s Excedrin Migraine kicked my migraine’s butt. Yeah!!! w00t! Two thumbs up for the Excedrin Migraine. Todd, next time Robyn tries to get you to try it you had better do it. Got that? Or I am going to send wife #3 after you to kick your butt. Yep, that’s a threat, and considering the e-mail she was kind enough to include me on today to my ex-husband, you had better be scared.
The latest on CNN (Todd so kindly named this “Christine’s News Network): Yeah, this time wife #3 wasn’t nearly as mad at me as she is at the ex. Poor guy, he got his butt kicked. Can’t say I blame her though – it seems HE put the idea in her head that I wanted him back! Goober. I never said or thought any such thing. If you’re the type who wants to follow this soap opera, you can read more… (be warned, it’s LOOOONG…)
