For Parents…

I thought I would share these links that I was sent through a Mom’s group. Our kids are very exposed to the media these days, so these might be helpful in the weeks to come: Talking with Kids About the News, Helping Children Understand Crisis and Trauma, Talking to Children about Violence, How to Talk to Your Children About the News.

I wrote a longer post earlier, but my computer lost it. Hmmm… oh well. I don’t think I could rewrite it. I am just happy to be alive and want to go home and hug my son.

The Internet…

Phones are jammed in New York right now, and probably all along the Eastern seaboard. I can’t call my friends on their cell phones. I was just wrapping up reading the posts at Saranwarp, all of which leave me stunned in a surreal sense. It is amazing though that they can still get e-mail, and people in Manhattan are on IM right now. As she put so well… “kind of strange that the internet, initially a military endeavor in case something like this happened, is now proving itself.” Wow.

Perspective

Amazing how things that seemed so important yesterday have suddenly become so trivial. I just want to hug everyone I know and thank God that they are ok.

Blood Donations

GiveBlood.org lists donation sites in Houston. I am sure there are sites for every city, at least the major ones.
