Similar to Hell…

Hilary just sent me an e-mail, and I can’t stop laughing over this closing line… “Bleah, Houston in August is very similar to what I suspect Hell must be like.” (Based on my post over at Nobody’s Bitch) Hillary, you are so right. Ugh.

I can’t believe I didn’t post anything yesterday. Man, that’s the first time in a long time. I’ve been a busy girl, lots of little projects under way… back to work!

Just for Marilyn! And more…

Hey Mar, if the ones that Nicole posted weren’t enough – you can go to Sexual Positions Free to get more ideas for the honeymoon trip!

One of the new graphic designers at work sent in the most amazing portfolio, focused on drawing mannequins. He even sent a small one in with the portfolio – and I asked the lead designer if I could have it. Now it sits on my desk at work.

Speaking of work – I get to move to an OFFICE with my very own DOOR! It almost feels like I am graduating to the big kids table or something. This is the very first time I have ever had my own door. I am so excited!

Jason starts school tomorrow. Well, later today since technically it is already Tuesday. He will be in 4th grade this year – I can’t believe it. Did the school shopping thing tonight, and we are all set. We had meet the teacher today (yesterday… Monday) morning. She seems pretty nice, but it is hard to tell from a few minutes time! I really hope he has a good year this year! He is growing up so fast. I realized earlier that in less than 7 years he can get a drivers license… wow. I was thinking about the Car Formerly known as “White Trash Honda” and realized that we may as well keep it another 6 years and then it can be his first car. Ack! I can’t believe it. Wow.

Just curious…

Someone keeps coming here by doing a search for blah+blah+Sykeston or something similar to that. Just curious … who? 🙂 Don’t have to be shy, I just wondered who it is – if it was a relative, friend, or just someone else who is familiar with wonderful Sykeston, ND. So drop me a line, e-mail, post a comment … if you don’t mind! And what about the other vistors who are “new” here? I love finding new sites. Help me out! Speak up!

Today’s Find and Other News

I just found Robyn’s site, Ain’t too proud to blog. I love it! And you know, she must be cool because she is wearing OPI’s “I’m Not Really a Waitress” nailcolor. I have worn that one before! Last time I had a pro manicure & pedicure done … which was (sadly) my 30th birthday, September 27, 1999! *gasp* I think it’s about time I have a pro do another one. I normally do them myself (cheap) but this payday, I am giving my tootsies a treat!

Speaking of that whole waitress thing, I get to be a guest bitch at Nobody’s Bitch while Brandy is out of town. Whoo hoo! This should be fun. Brandy will be missed though, and she definately has my sympathy, dealing with a death in the family herself. Big hugs to Brandy…

I am sleepy today. I talked to my mom last night for almost four hours. She decided to stay a few days longer up in North Dakota to deal with family things and other arrangements. It is definately putting strain on her – she needed a sounding board. I am just glad I could be there for her. I am going to go get some “thinking of you” type of cards this week to send to my aunts & uncles too. I sort of wish I had gone for the funeral, *all* of my cousins were there except for 4 of us – 2 in California, my cousin that is in the Army, and me. Cousins I have not seen since the ’80s were there. (Yes, seriously. The ’80s.) But … I didn’t. I would not have really had a chance to visit with them really anyways, so it’s ok. Instead I am going to work hard, save lots of money, and start visiting them in the future. Those would be better conditions anyways. I think it helped my mom though to share memories with me of things that Grandpa had done over the years to help people out; of the kind of man that he was and how his strength of character always shined through. She read me the poem that they had printed on the Memory card (funeral prayer card thing) and I lost it. I am happy that he died right where he wanted to be – at home. I am glad he was a part of my life for so many years and I had one last chance to visit with him this summer. I miss him.

Our Wonderful President

As we all know, I have a TiVo and I love it. It knows when to record everything I want to see, and then on days like today I get to play “catch-up” and watch a bunch of shows. During rerun season I watch it on the weekends that is – during the regular season I watch certain shows as soon as I can. Anyways… I went to watch Will & Grace from Thursday night, and what was I greeted with? DUHBYA!

Can someone get that man some serious hardcore speech coaches to come and hang out with him at the ranch and teach him to not be so incredibly flat and monotone? I almost fell asleep 4 times during the speech. And don’t even GET me started on his stem cell speech. I have to give him credit for one thing – he is pretty firm and steady in his beliefs. He isn’t like some politicians, always singing a different tune. But … he said he will not let them use federal funding to do research on new stem cells. It is a morale issue for him, the loss of life. HELLO? You’re the president. What happens when we go to bomb Iraq? Didn’t we just send planes over there this weekend? What about the moral issue of killing those innocent living & breathing people? AUGH! It just bothered me. I am pro-life. I do not want people to get paid to have abortions and donate embryos for stem-cell research. But these are embryos that, as Duhbya said, will more than likely be destroyed. I don’t know… I guess it was the whole issue that a president has to make decisions about things like sending soldiers off to fight and kill innocent victims in other countries. And isn’t this the same guy that was PROUD of the fact that Texas had so many executions while he was in office? Ohhhh… so if they are a violent criminal it’s ok to kill them, but if they are living in a test tube and will be destroyed before ever being implanted into a uterus, we can’t extract the stem cells for research. Gee, Duhbya, that sure does make sense. He scares me. (Speaking of scary, have you seen Gore with that beard! Ack! Get a mirror, buddy. Shave that off!)

If you want a good laugh, be sure to visit The First Twins: Jenna Bush and Barbara Bush. Funny that Chelsea Clinton was the first daughter for 8 years and we NEVER saw her do any of the things that Ms. Jenna has done already. Can’t anyone get her under control? Hello, missy? We are ALL watching you make an ass of yourself. Yes, yes, I was in college once, and we all wanted to have fun and I know I drank while underage, but I didn’t have cameras from around the globe pointing at me!
