Caring for Your Introvert…

Sometimes people find it hard to believe, but I really am an extroverted introvert. My Myers-Briggs profile even says so – I am an ENFP, but I sit right on the line that divides the extroverts from the introverts. This article accurate describes the way you should be Caring for Your Introvert. It hits the nail on the head; “introverts are people who find other people tiring … after an hour or two of being socially “on,” we introverts need to turn off and recharge.”

So next time you think someone is being aloof or a snob, take a moment to realize that maybe they are just an introvert and need some recharge time. Give them a chance, they will come around. As for me, I’m just happy that I found an extrovert who is willing to understand and take care of my introvert needs.

Trig No More…

Mini Big Ben

Big Ben in Miniature, manipulated in Photoshop CS2. Even better large.

That’s it. Sad, but true. I have to drop this class. I am struggling to get through the homework, and the best case scenario right now is that I could get a C on this test. I could use some of the Spring Break time to play catch-up, but I have some review to do in Biology and Chemistry already. Mike pointed out just now how stressed I’ve been sounding when we talk on the phone, and I can see what I’m doing pretty clearly and I know all the signs.

When I get stressed or anxious about something, or just don’t want to do it at all, I will do everything I can to avoid it. I’ve always been like this. I would rather stare at a spot on the ceiling right now instead of working on this homework. I’m in avoidance mode. Heck, I was installing plugins on the blog and making miniatures to avoid it yesterday. I want to be doing anything else over the homework. Last night I had to stop myself from doing spring cleaning housework because I needed to do the homework. It is that bad.

I’m just considering it a medical expense and letting it go. I know what I could have done differently, but even if I had, the first unit would be a blur thanks to the issues I was having. Now I can focus on the other 3 classes and when I take this one again I will get the A that I should be making, instead of settling for a worse grade.

Update, about an hour later: Can I just tell you how relieved I feel having made that choice? Oh my goodness, it is like a huge weight has been lifted. As an added bonus – I’m officially on Spring Break now! Whoo hoo! Parrrrrtay! Oh, wait. That was the spring breaks of my youth. Never mind. I think I’m going to go do the podcast and then work on my second Jaywalker sock.

Mini Cafe for a Mini Study Break…

Mini Cafe Panis

The miniature view looking down from the bell tower of Notre Dame in Paris on Cafe Panis and the Seine. It looks even better viewed large.

As an added bonus, if you click that large link, you will see the image using the uber cool and fabulous Lightbox Plugin that I just found thanks to Jenn. That was THE fastest and the easiest plugin I have ever installed here and it is SO neat! (It isn’t as neat if you’re using Internet Explorer. It has glitches, I discovered when I called my Mom to show it off to her. Sorry about that. It works in Firefox.)

Inspired by Arkworld, I had to try my hand at Fake Model Photography. Beware – it is addicting once you get started! But so much fun!

Back to studying Trig for me. I needed a little mini break (pardon the pun), but I’m trying to be good about getting ready for this test. It is so hard and I’m so confused. *sigh*

On a positive note, the change in my meds has been a huge help. I went from a D on my first Chemistry test to an A on the second one. (She drops our lowest grade out of 7 tests, so no worries there.) I went from a C on my first lab practical in Biology to a high B on the second one, and a D on the first Biology test (brought up to a C thanks to extra credit) to a B on the second one (brought up to an A thanks to extra credit.)

I’m afraid Trig won’t go as well though – it is the only class that truly builds from one chapter to a next. I strugged to get through chapters 1 & 2 while on the meds, so now I barely remember it for chapters 3 & 4. I think I may be taking a do-over in this class. I really don’t want to kill my GPA just because I was jacked up on the wrong medicine for the first month of the semester.

The Colinette is Coming!

So Beautiful

I guess a London photo would fit better with this post, but I adore this shot from our honeymoon of the Eiffel Tower.

Last Friday, I went to my LYS and looked through the Colinette books for some ideas of what I might want to knit with their yarn. At first, I thought about a sweater. But I kept thinking about the afghan kits that Colinette makes, and how it would be nice to have something that I can leave on display part of the time. I mean, I could hang a sweater up and call it art, but it just isn’t the same. In the end, I selected a nice pattern that was made with Colinette Prism and Colinette Mohair, and I selected the “Dusk” color as the one that matches our color scheme the most. (Those links might not work thanks to session IDs, but I thought I should try.)

Mike called me while I was there, and I made a point to brag to everyone that he was buying yarn for me. I didn’t realize that before he left home he hadn’t contacted any of his other friends in London about his trip other than Pixeldiva to make yarn shopping plans. How sweet is that? (Ok, sort of silly that he didn’t contact anyone else, but still sweet.)

When they got to the shop on Saturday, I got a phone call because they didn’t have any of the colors in stock – and they didn’t have 5 skeins of Prism in any color. Mike ordered it from Colinette directly and called them to confirm the order. It was still more than half the price that it is here in the US. It is being shipped to the hotel and should be there by tomorrow or Friday. Yeah! The Colinette is coming! The Colinette is coming!

He is coming along on his scarf, and racing against the clock so he can wear it there before he leaves. Not much use for a scarf in Houston right now – we are having lovely summer weather lately! Oh, if only our summers were only 80 degrees. 80 degrees! It is only March 8th and it is 80 degrees! We are going to be so screwed by the time June comes around.

Speaking of June – I actually found a June bug in my garage the other day! In MARCH! People! This is just insane! And really, I could have done without the June bug. I don’t mind most bugs, but those are the nastiest things. *shiver* I hate them so much, so I really don’t want to see them this early in the year. Did I mention that summer is going to suck?

On a separate note, I finally figured out why I couldn’t get rid of the gray stripe that was behind the sidebar before – it wasn’t part of the CSS, but rather an image! I just tweaked it in Photoshop, and it is all white and crisp and pretty and clean now! Yeah! That has really bugged me!
