More Skins!

No, no, not me! Linh has her site all dressed up with skins! Yeah! It looks GREAT Linh! Glad my half-asleep e-mail message made sense! Now I have to wrap up the tutorial for Amy on how to skin MT blogs. There are just a few little twists in there, like how to skin the comment windows.

Olympic Rings…

Did anyone watch last night’s opening ceremony for the Olympics? Wow. I don’t normally watch the opening ceremonies unless I catch them in passing – but I’m really glad I watched last night! That was absolutely beautiful. I guess I should confess now … I love the Winter Olympics. The summer games don’t do a whole lot for me – but the Winter Games ROCK!!! I watch all the skating events. I like to watch the skiing – it’s fun. The bobsleds and luge and all that stuff is just cool. Heck, I might even watch a hockey game or two! It’s the only time I watch most of the sports with the exception of the skating. I’ll watch skating any time!

My two Olympic tales:
– I went into Baskin Robbins the other night to get Gold Medal Ribbon ice cream. I told the kid working the counter that I wanted some “in honor of the Olympics”. Blank stare. He had no clue what I was talking about. Yes, the ice cream flavor was introduced for the 1980 Olympics. Problem was, he was probably about 18, so the 1980 Games were about 4 years before he was born. Oops.

– After the 1980 Winter Olympic Games, I was “speed skating” on the driveway one nice spring day on my roller skates. The old-fashioned style, not the fancy inline skates. We had a great huge flat driveway – it was the perfect skating rink. But I was speed skating, just like I had seen on the Games. Took a curve in that speed skater position and coming out of the turn I fell. And broke my wrist. Ouch. So if you see something fancy on the Games, don’t try to do it unless you have the right equipment and location.

On another topic:
I modified the new design so that it is more “fluid” so that the the 800×600 screen resolution shouldn’t have a side scroll any more. If there is anything that is broken that I’ve overlooked, let me know. I’ll have to fix it later though – because now the computer is going off and I’m going to clean the house and then maybe read a book or cross stitch. I need some time away from the computer for a little bit. Later on I need to do some stuff for Kymberlie on her site and then work on my next project. But first I need some down time for the afternoon.

I Have No Shame…

One last time because it’s the last day: Anti-Bloggies.com > Vote. I would like the Most Updated Blog. You can leave the rest of the fields blank if you want. In the true spirit of the Anti-Bloggies, I should add that Robyn would like the Bad Hair Blog award. And I think she promised Davezilla some girl-on-girl kissing action if she wins it. I promised to have my photo taken kissing the blogger of his choice at SXSW. Or him, since he’ll be there. It’s his choice, he can pick himself! So vote for us. Come on, you know you want to.

Taking a Moment…

I had a migraine yesterday – a pretty bad one by the time I got home last night. I still have it today, but not as bad. Last night I could manage to whip out the new design, but reading blogs was just too much for my eyes to handle. So I settled in with the Tivo remote and the laptop and let the creativity flow as I caught up on the shows on TV. I have to stop and take a moment to thank Chris Pirillo – first for the hysterical laughter I got out of watching Wednesday’s episode of Call for Help . Yes, it was the Daily Wav bit where Chris kept playing the “I’m a geek, not a nerd” file. Two or three times. And then I rewound the Tivo to watch it again. I was cracking up. Then, just as I made my 1am post last night, Todd called. I had been to quiet, he & Robyn wanted to check on me. (Awwww, shucks! I was feeling the love!) I reassured him that I just had a migraine and was just being an introvert but was otherwise in a wonderful mood. (Thanks to Todd for letting me babble about my latest work news!) As we were getting off the phone, Robyn told him to tell me to go to Chris Pirillo’s site. I already had the laptop turned off though … but after a few minutes the pull was too strong, I couldn’t take it any more. I’m glad I did – I laughed my ass off over their latest family arguement. Huge round of applause for Gretchen Pirillo for her *awesome* talent in that role there. I loved it. And Sprocket! Oh my goodness. (I wonder if Sprocket has a blog yet – I mean he put an ad on Craig’s List, he should be able to handle MovableType!) The best cure for a migraine might just be laughter, you know? So thank you to everyone for making it a little better!

One Domain that Isn’t Mine…

I opened up my e-mail to be surprised by the message that my hosting account has been set up for my new domain, hosted by Earthlink. Well, that’s nice … but there is one problem. The person that signed up for this domain and everything else misspelled his e-mail address. Meaning I got his e-mail, instead of him. It’s a domain I actually don’t own! The e-mail has all of the log-in and FTP information for the new site … I think I will just have to put a “Lost & Found” ad up there:

Dear Fallan: You misspelled your e-mail address. I got your e-mail. Please contact me and I will send the information on to you. Rewards accepted. Christine

My luck though? I would be busted for hacking or something like that. They would say I broke into their domain. Considering they registered a URL too, I guess I could just wait for the whois to update and contact them that way. *sigh* But that’s just not as fun!
