Change Is In the Air…

More and more, I realize how I want to focus more time on photography. I realize that right now I have pulled myself in to so many different directions that I have ended up with two sites (this one and Pixelog) that pull me in to two different directions, and in the end I’m not happy with where they are at. While part of me wants to keep Pixelog very separate, I also want to merge the sites together, once and for all. I am thinking of ways of doing this – I’ve already added the latest Pixelog photos to some of the skins for the blog, but … that’s not it. It’s not right. It’s not what I want.

Change is in the air. I am not sure how soon it will be done, but it is coming. The need keeps growing stronger and stronger. I just have to figure out how to make it happen.

A Changing World…

I find it very disturbing that among the Fry’s/Outpost Hottest Deals section of their ad – full of various computer items – is a Personal Respiratory Defense System. It’s even more scary that I can see why people might want to own a gas mask.

The world is changing around us, and somedays I just want it to stop. Progress is good, but the level of fear in recent years is very tiring.

On Wednesday, as we headed through security in Boston, we learned about the latest change in airport checks. They wanted us to empty everything battery operated from our carry on luggage. Not just laptops and cell phones. No, I was scrambling to pull out Gameboys, power packs for them, cameras, phones, and everything else. It’s a good idea to take off your shoes too, as they will tell you. That way the metal shanks in them won’t set off the detectors.

We were at the airport over two hours early (I know, don’t faint from the shock) so I finally threw my suitcase on the belt with 6 cameras inside of it. I had been warned that if I didn’t remove things like cameras, it would be subject to a bag search. Did they pick that bag? No. They searched Jason’s bag, where I had stashed my toiletry kit which had my SonicCare toothbrush inside. Nothing else.

Really, airport security does nothing to make me feel safe… Maybe those gas masks are a good deal after all.

Really, Really Wicked Hot…

Remember how I said yesterday that it was wicked hot here in Houston? Yeah, let me clarify that. It was a record breaking 104 degrees. 104. Ugh.

In other news, “Texans used a record 60,157 megawatts of power at Thursday’s peak hour, breaking the previous high of 59,098 set Wednesday.” You need that much electricity to cool us all down when it’s 104 outside. I hate using my ceiling fans (the swirling air gets my allergies every time) but I turned them on as soon as I got home on Wednesday night. I’ll keep popping Claritin – at least I’m cool, even though it’s wicked hot…

Just One Thing to Say…

We made it home safe and sound last night, and I have just one thing to say …

It’s wicked hot!
(Said with my best Boston accent.)

The Road Home…

The suitcases are packed, the car is loaded, and we are about to head out. Some time in Boston and then a trip out to the airport. Before I shut the laptop down, I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who made our trip to Boston so wonderful! It was so great to see all of you, to get a chance to meet in person, and to enjoy good times together.

Most of all though, I want to thank Jennifer and Sam for being such fantastic hosts. There aren’t even words to express my gratitude for all of your hospitality, especially to all those who gained their hospitality management degree. Thank you…
