- Whoo hoo! Lab day, lab day, lab day! Sending another round of things off to the printer. I *heart* @bmbosse for saving my sanity with this. #
- Sending a bride’s contact info off to a local magazine so they can confirm details and publish one of our weddings. Sweet! #
- Wow, the 3G iPhone really drains the battery *fast* – and I don’t even have 3G turned on. Crazy. I barely checked emails on it today. #
- It needed some refreshing, so I made changes over at http://whollymatrimony.com – now to write a blog post or two! #
January? Where Did You Go?
Oh my goodness, this month has again just flown by. Remember when we were little kids, and each month just seemed to drag on fooooorrrreeeeeeeever? Clearly, that is no longer the case.
There have been big changes in the world around us. The US has a new president. I didn’t like George W. Bush when he ran for Governor of Texas, so I was no fan of his when he ran for – and won – the office of President. I’m happy to see the administration change. I know I’m not alone.
But the bigger changes have been in my work life. I have an assistant now, Brittany. She helps keep everything running smoothly – it is pretty fabulous. I’m getting used to handing tasks over. She told me the other day that I “am a control freak, but it is manageable.” Heehee! It is true, but at least I’m aware of it. I did my first bridal show, which was actually a nice, small show – about 70 vendors total. One of my recent brides, Patricia, joined Elaine & I at the booth, and we had a BLAST. I had Tricia’s album on display, and she told everyone how much fun she had working with us – it was wonderful hearing how it all went from her perspective. I didn’t coach her on what to say at all, she was just honest and genuine. It was wonderful!
The biggest work news of all is that just a year after I spotted the building where I’ve been renting studio space since June, I’m going to take over the building. I’ve got plans for the front room and viewing parties there, and the boudoir sessions continue to be booking pretty steadily in the back of the space. It is wonderful, wonderful, wonderful! Now that I have Brittany to help me with the day-to-day operations of things, I’m actually planning on taking more maternity, newborn & senior sessions this year as well as weddings & boudoir.
Every aspect of my personal life seems to be wrapped up in photography somehow right now. Tara commented that all I ever post about on Twitter is photography related. I’m sort of completely in it, all the time. I don’t mind – but I feel like it leaves me with so little to talk about outside of it. Hmmm… I’m going to work on that. I need to knit more too. Knitting is good, and I didn’t get enough of it this month.
I did mostly kick the addiction to caffeine, thanks in part to my love for Mexican Coke (Coca-Cola, not *that* kind of Coke), which has real sugar instead of high-fructose corn syrup in it and is available here in Houston. One bottle a day at most. Tonight I made the mistake of drinking it in the evening. It may end up being a loooong night. Oops!
How is 2009 going for you?

- At Apple store, they let me try on 3G cases. One scratched my phone before I even left the store. Emp said normal for those. No warning. Ugh #
- RT @beingkatie: My slideshow and others from @photocamphou is featured in the spotlight section today on http://www.slideshare.net/ :D!!! #
- I moderated the copyright presentation with @beingkatie at #photocamphouston – exciting to see it featured on http://slideshare.net – whee! #
- RT @photojojo: Amazon.com’s got Lightroom2 (windows & mac) for over $100 off today! http://is.gd/hsdq #
- Working on new portfolio. I don’t like the logo layout – should I just put the logo on each photo where I want it? http://tr.im/d5mz #
- FYI, since many people have now asked – those are *NOT* permanent photos in place. I grabbed handy ones off my hard drive to test LOGO. #
- I’ve only done 1 show now, mainly to meet planners & vendors, as I had a busy 2008. 5×7 promo cards *with* prices got attention. #wedchat #
- Changed out images so that they are the right size for the template; not final picks. Logo issue first. http://tr.im/d5mz #
- My standard horizontal logo just doesn’t seem to work well with the portfolio; what do you think of stacked version? http://tr.im/d5mz #
