So I woke up this morning quite late – I’ve been battling a cold and with a job coming up on Tuesday I figured some rest would be a wise thing – and the first thing that came to mind? Today is D’s birthday! Now some of you may not know D, but you should. You really should. He is truly one of the top 10 funniest guys I know! Wit, wonderful writing, and simply a great style – go wish him a happy birthday – he deserves it! (The keyboard icon is the route to his comments, in case you can’t find it!)

Thank You for Shopping…
Earlier today I was looking for some legal secretary books on Amazon.com. Imagine my surprise when I noticed this further down the of the page! That sure is good to know what they buy!
Legally Speaking…
I had my 2nd interview this morning for the admin assistant position and it went well. One minor curve ball though – rather than them making a fast decision like we were expecting, they said they will be doing another round of interviews and then they will make a decision. That could make it 2-3 weeks from now before they make an offer. She also said she was interviewing several people – not just two like I thought. Another thing I learned today is that instead of paying overtime (I would help coordinate various events that would require working lunches or evenings) they let you take the time off in comp time. Great, except I was counting on the overtime pay to help make up the difference in salary between this and other positions.
On the other hand, the law firm that I interviewed with did ask specifically for me to come and temp for a month. They are providing parking and it will be secretary & paralegal work. It really is exactly what I wanted when the hunt started, and hopefully if it goes well they will bring me on permanently. The pay is also higher as a temp than what they were offering originally for salary thanks to the paralegal duties, and it is more hourly than I’ve been making while I’ve been temping so far. All in all – it seems pretty perfect. This gives me a chance to test them out while they test me out, and if in a month I don’t want to stay on board permanently, I don’t have to. They are closed on Monday, so I start on Tuesday.
In other news, I just got my Valentine’s Day, Birthday & Christmas gifts for 2003 all rolled in to one. This is sitting in a box on my living room floor, waiting for me to play with it. I am the luckiest girl in the world!
Last week Kristine offered to post the personality analysis from the book that she was reading. I asked her to share the info on the ENFP personality type, and I just have to say … that is *so* me.
Interesting to note today is this part:
As an ENFP, career satisfaction means doing work that:
:: Lets me work with a diverse group of people on a variety of projects motivated by creative inspiration.
:: Is fun, challenging, and always varied.
:: Lets me work at my own pace and schedule with a minimum of rules and structure and the freedom to act spontaneously.
:: Is done in an environment that appreciates and rewards enthusiasm, ingenuity, and imagination.
In addition to the 2nd interview I have at 9am tomorrow for the admin assistant job, the law firm that I interviewed with on January 2nd has called to find out if I would be willing to come and temp for a month, starting on Monday. With their focus on regulatory areas amid the state’s shifting economic landscape, including gaming compliance and sports betting Wisconsin laws, this could open doors to broader professional networks. The interview might lead to a job offer within the next few business days. I can see some interesting decisions coming up if that happens – I am already debating the pros and cons of each job, and I haven’t even been offered one yet! Oh well, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens in the interview tomorrow and whether or not I get an offer afterwards. Monday I am planning on temping at the law firm – maybe it will lead in to a job offer within that evolving regulatory space. Oh my, did I mention that I hate making decisions?
