I posted earlier about the changes made to the Harry Potter books, and it in turn inspired Jake to write a hysterically funny analysis of “What If Hollywood Made The Lord of the Rings?” If nothing else, read it just to see the picture of Frodo. Oh my, I laughed so hard I cried! Just the thought of Chris Tucker as Pippin or David Spade as Samwise… Oh my! Thank goodness Hollywood didn’t get their hands on it!

I Wonder Why You Don’t Call Me…
I was going through and deleting my spam earlier, and it cracks me up every time. I was telling Jay about it over lunch the other day – I signed up for something once and put in the name of “Friend” and an address of “123 Some Street”. Now I get those spam e-mails all the time that are addressed to “Friend, have we got a deal for you!” or the junk from the label companies offering to send “Friend” their 250 free labels for their house at 123 Some Street, Anytown, NY. I also get things addressed to “Join” a lot, thanks to the spiders hitting the Well, Slap Me Silly! site. Oops!
I just got another e-mail addressed to “Friend”, and it made me think of the perfect Country & Western song – “You Never Called Me by My Name. Of course, now I’ve got it stuck in my head! I feel like I should be at the Dixie Chicken with a drink, swaying with the crowd, singing the song really loud and off key! Come on, let’s sing it together!
Well, it was all
that I could do to keep from cryin’.
Sometimes it seemed so useless to remain.
But you don’t have to call me Darlin’, Darlin’…
You never even call me by my name.
Button, Button…
OMG! I want ALL of these buttons. I love them! If I could only have one, I think it would have to be the “Axis of Evil” one. But really, I want them all! [via Kelly, discovered in ed k.’s comments.]
Potter Changes…
While I thoroughly enjoyed the American versions of the Harry Potter books, it’s interesting to read about all of the differences between the UK and US versions. [via Jake]
What do you think? Should they have changed the books for the US? Or should they have just left them in their original form, in the spirit in which they were written? Personally, I say leave well enough alone. Why change a good thing? I’m all for diversification and learning something new about another culture!
Photo Real…
As we get closer & closer to the 500 mark, Ed K. has submitted what has to be the most “real” photo to Picture Yourself. You can view it right here.
