It’s late in the day, but I had to take a moment to wish Kenny & Elaine a Happy Anniversary! It’s been such a pleasure getting to know the two of them the past few months – they are such a fantastic couple! I wish you guys nothing but the best in the years to come!

More Rain…
The rain is still coming down. We had sunshine for a little while yesterday, but it’s been raining all day again today. I have plans tonight to follow through on Bran’s anti-rain dance suggestion, so we’ll see how it goes. Either it will stop raining or the tequila will guarantee I don’t care.
I have two options for the Halloween party on Saturday night and I can’t decide what to wear. I can dress up in my new witch costume (I am Pure Evil ™ after all) with lovely purple hair, or I can put my hair up in pigtails, wear my Minnie Mouse blinking light ears, and go as a Girl. (Since I have wily girl powers already, you know…) So, which is it? Girl or Witch?
The theme of the party is the Middle Ages, and if it wasn’t raining so much I would go to the Ren Fest and get a costume there for it, but it’s going to be a huge Mud Fest with all this rain and I think the shop that is outside with the costumes for sale will be closed.
All this rain has been effecting my mood. The clients at work are jumping for attention, so that’s where I’ve been. Can’t really complain now that it’s almost over, but … now you know why I’ve been so quiet.
Meanwhile, Picture Yourself has been updated. Go look through the latest photos if you have time – and then send in one of your own!
Rain, Rain, Go Away…
First I should start with what I’m grateful for – I am glad that it is cooler outside now here in Houston. Our high today should be 78, with a low of 66. However, I am tired of the rain. It’s rained almost non-stop since Sunday. Gray and overcast. We did see a hint of sunshine yesterday, and I could see the moon when I was out last night, but this morning it was nothing but gray again. The allergies are starting to kick in to high gear now too, thanks to the rain.
Of course the gray weather just makes you want to curl up and sleep in late, and that’s exactly what I did this morning. Not intentionally though – and that’s when it sucks. Sure the extra sleep feels good, but the jolt you get when you wake up and realize you’ve overslept … blech. I hate that feeling. I set my alarm last night before I went to bed – but didn’t turn it on. Fortunately I woke up on my own, only about 15 minutes late – so it all turned out ok in the end.
So while I’m having a great week, and life is generally fantastic – I’m so tired of the rain. I need my sunshine! Anyone know an anti-rain dance I can try?
The Best of Friends…
8 years ago today, in 1994, I met my best friend Chelsey. We ended up sitting together at the 75th anniversary party for the law firm that we worked at – and while everyone had told us we would be friends we hadn’t met before in the 2 months I had worked there. I was a temp-to-perm employee and had received my formal job offer the day before on Friday, but didn’t sign the contract until the following Monday. At the banquet, I ended up winning one of the grand prizes – 2 Round-trip tickets on Continental, and Chelsey was mad because it was her birthday and those tickets were hers! (Ok, she wasn’t really mad, but it’s just how we operate…)
So, you would think that after 8 years I could finally remember when her birthday is. Every year I wonder if it’s on the 22nd or the 24th of October. I think I have some mental block now to getting the date right. Maybe it’s because my formal hire date at the firm was the 24th. But I know better than to miss her birthday – so I called her first thing this morning to check.
I could have played it off … but instead I just came clean and confessed about my mental block. She laughed and called me a “Dork” – now, isn’t that what true friends are all about? But I got it right – it’s today! Crisises were avoided, the world was saved once again!
She’s the bestest friend I could ever ask for, and really, if you ask me, I think it’s only appropriate that I give her TWO birthday days. She’s just that wonderful. So big, huge, wonderful birthday wishes to Chelsey – I love you bunches and you are the best! Happy 29+2 Birthday! *smooch!*
