TV Time…

The Houston Texans are playing their first game tonight. The Houston Texans are playing their first game tonight. No, really, the Houston Texans are playing their first game tonight. Yeah, that’s all I’ve heard on the news for the past 24 hours, so I figured you should have to endure it too. All I have to say is that I’m still thankful that we ran Bud Adams out of town. Creepy toupee man.

I wanted to watch “Crossing Jordan” tonight so I could get my fill of Boston scenery, but I discovered that “Meet My Folks” is on instead. Like an accident that you can’t help but look at, I actually left it on. Not entirely sure why, but I’m glad – in that twisted way – that I did. When they watched the video tape where the friend told the parents that the guy had stopped at the state line and had sex – right there under the “you are now entering” sign, pardon the pun – I couldn’t help but laugh. This Dad on this show is just cracking me up. He’s crying because he has to send one of the guys home! That’s classic. Meanwhile, I’m so thankful that I have a son!

The List Needs to be Updated!

Thanks to Robyn, I found out that both Mikey and Jason are celebrating their birthday today! Whoo hoooo! Hope you both have a FANTASTIC day! And no matter what, don’t let a case of the Mondays bring you down!

This is further proof that my birthday list *really* needs to be updated. So, if you have a birthday, leave a note in my comments. Please. And don’t tell me that you don’t have a birthday because I know you do!

Personal Purge, Part II…

I just finished round 2 in the closet of the ’90s. Yes, I found the denim shirt I just HAD to have back in 1993. Denim with a collar, and holes where your shoulders are. Yes, no shoulders. I remember hunting high and low for a shirt like that, they were THE thing to wear to the clubs at the time here in Houston. Day-uhm. No wonder my parents gave me looks like I was a nut case whenever I wore that shirt. Some little trashy hussy is out there right now waiting for it to come her way!

What the hell was I thinking? Now if only I could find my Z. Cavarichis to throw them out too! This is fun!

Throwing Out the Memories…

I’ve slowing been going through all of the rooms finding things to throw out or donate to Goodwill. Today it was time to do what I dreaded and tackle the closet, or namely the old clothes hanging in it.

Is it just me, or do you associate clothes with certain memories? I think that’s part of why it’s so hard for me to get rid of some things – I look at them and recall the places, the events, the people that I’ve seen while wearing those clothes. There are the very 1990-esque bolero jackets that I used to wear when we went to the clubs in Germany. I loved the purple one, and I had the best aqua & purple earrings that went with it, and I wore it with the black lycra dress. Hot, hot, hot. There is the brown jacket that I wore on the flight home from Germany, 7 months pregnant with Jason. There is the shirt I wore with the scalloped neckline on one of my first dates with the Insignificant Other. We went to an Astros game, back when they were still playing at the Astrodome. Back when there still was a Dome. Back when the Insignificant Other was still a part of my life.

The threads seem to hold so many memories. But in reality the memories are in my mind, and the clothing was just a piece of it. Time to let them go and move on – there will be more memories to come.
