Be Effective…

Effective Desktop is a set of utilities that allows you to extend your Windows desktop and (the thing I like the most) it allows you to hide your unused system tray icons. I end up with a touchpad icon for the laptop and a LAN connection icon. I don’t care about either one, but have never figured out how to get rid of them – so here is a solution!

Another Addict…

Seems that Michele, Robyn, Todd and I aren’t the only ones addicted to TechTV. I think Cheyenne may have it as bad as the rest of us if not worse! Any other TechTV junkies out there? Come on, stand up & be proud!

Get Some Hot Lingo…

Chris Pirillo was wishing in his mad dash post for a way to spell check his MT entries. I knew that Dawn had mentioned one before, so after a little looking, I found it – Hot Lingo – The Web-form Spell Checker! Not only will it work with MT forms, it will work with any form you use online! One hitch – you have to be on a PC and using IE5.0 or higher.

Later… I downloaded it, installed it, and there is now a little icon on my toolbar right by the printer icon. It works like a *charm*. This thing is great! Get Hot Lingo! Never misspell your posts again!

For the Macs in the House…

For those of you on the Macs out there, Blogscript has been released and is now compatible with MovableType and Manilla sites, and Blogger too. Here is their description of it:

This is an AppleScript that was designed to function on Mac OS X v10.1. BlogScript uses the built in XML-RPC power of OS X and it’s new Toolbar Script feature. BlogScript’s main purpose is to allow users of Blogger.com’s weblog and news site management system to post directly from a users desktop, or from anywhere for that matter. It allows the user to copy any text from any application and by making a single menu selection have the weblog entry posted automatically, instantly. It is fast, powerful, and amazingly handy.

Just thought I would hook you up since I normally only point out the cool PC toys! [via Salted Wound, via GiggleChick]

In a Nutshell…

I was thrilled to discover tonight that Andre Torrez has brought his site back online. Andre runs FilePile, where I first discovered his many talents. He also shares a birthday with me. Well, many birthdays, technically, since we have had it on the same day all of his life. Whatever. You know what I mean…

His latest project is called “Nutshell” and it’s a toolbar that searches more than one site. It looks pretty cool and I will be adding it soon myself! You can read more about it here. [via David]
