Shortcodes for WordPress…

Back from Austin, Texas where I was for Dane Sander’s Fast Track Photographer Roadshow Workshop (Use the code “Christine_workshop_new” if you would like $75 off a future workshop). I love to travel, I really do — but I’m so glad August is officially over tomorrow! 4 days in New Orleans, 4 days in Las Vegas and 4 days in Austin all in one month have made it a bit craaaaaaaazy to say the least! But what an incredible, amazing month it has been. I have met so many AWESOME people and I’m looking forward to the road ahead!

I’m busy catching up on email and phone calls (if I owe you one, I promise you’ll hear from me soon), but meanwhile I thought I would share a tip from my friend Jennifer, aka the ScriptyGoddess. She wrote a post recently about using Shortcodes to make line breaks in HTML in WordPress. Definitely something worth checking out if you’re in to messing with code behind the scenes and have been wanting a way to make the
tag work properly!

She also linked to these really helpful posts – Mastering WordPress Shortcodes and 10 Incredibly Cool WordPress Shortcodes — check them out!

Look What I Found!

I think I may have finally found an old copy of my site design! It was here on the server all along. Now I just have to figure out if it is the latest one, which was nice and compliant. Then to figure out how to add my Flickr thumbnails across the top (or ones from Pixelog, which is sadly in need of a HUGE update). Hmmmm…

Any CSS gurus out there with some tips and advice? I could really, really use the help!

Housecleaning…

Looking at my blogroll, I realize it is in serious need of a thorough cleaning. There are many blogs I read all the time not on there (mainly knitting blogs) and many blogs I never read on there. I always feel bad when I delete one though. You would think that after 5 years or so I would get over it. I started going through them last weekend, but there is a lot to do still.

I really shouldn’t beat myself up over these things though. It is just silly.

Hmmm… if I go back to the other design theme, I won’t notice it as much…

Short and Sweet…

I’ve used TinyURL in the past when needed, but there is a new kid in town with a lot of cool features! Check out URL123, which allows you to not only shorten links, but to track who clicks on them and all sorts of other goodies if you have an account with them. A neat feature, I think. I learned all about it over at Geeky’s site – so I used her post as my first short link! You can read about it at http://christine.url123.com/url123.

I love it when a service is so new I can get my name as a username!
