Birthday Girl!

Ella's First Birthday

Earlier this week, I was invited by the fabulous Katie and Adam to come over and spend time hanging out with them for Ella’s first birthday. Just look at that cutie! How could I resist? I’ve actually wanted to get Ella in front of my lens since this past spring when I first met her – so there was no way I was passing the chance up!

She was happy and bubbly when I first arrived at her house – I always say that people are most comfortable being photographed in their favorite places. However, the light & I weren’t getting along there very well, so I suggested going out to the park. She went into serious Ella mode – but I promise she was all smiles before this!

Last Friday I got to finally meet Mary, also known as Ella’s Happy Buela. Mary & I have exchanged emails for months now, ever since she started listening to the Pointy Sticks podcast. We never got to meet up though until now – and I am so glad we got to meet! She was finishing up Ella’s new birthday dress that she made, and she brought it up to Twisted Yarns so she could ask questions about it. It was such a joy having her join us in the Friday knitting circle! And Ella’s dress was so cute! She wore the dress for part of her birthday, and we got photos of her in it too.

Finding Her Light

I hope to get to spend more time with Ella in the future – she has such a great spirit and joy! Interested in hiring me to take your child’s photos? I would love to talk! More details at the lifestyle photography site.

600 Square Miles…

After having a nice, relaxing, off-line vacation, I’m feeling all bright & sparkly and focused! Which makes me realize just how rushed and frazzled I was feeling before we left!

One of the things I forgot to mention? One of my prints was selected for the 600 sq. mi. photo show that the Houstonist is putting on! It was such an honor to be selected, and I’m so glad that they have the same sense of humor as I do – I submitted my “Mile 0” photograph, since it is the start of the 600 square miles, after all. I wasn’t sure if they would select it – but they did! Squee!

BarStool Magazine…

In Houston? Pick up a copy of the July issue of BarStool magazine and you’ll see my photographs in it! I photographed the bartender for the Bartender of the Month feature, and then did a separate shoot at Leon’s Lounge on McGowen in Midtown. It was such an incredible rush to see my photographs in print, and while I did a speed posting on Flickr, I can’t believe I didn’t share them in the blog too!

August’s issue will have more photographs by me, and photographs that Elaine took also – amazing stuff, I’m just bursting at the seams waiting to share!

The Bee…

“Aerodynamically the bumble bee shouldn’t be able to fly, but the bumble bee doesn’t know it, so it goes on flying anyway.”
— Mary Kay Ash

I’ve been a busy little bee around here, working on the … *drumroll please* …

New! Wedding photography website! Whee!

(Music warning. Music will play when you enter the Christine Tremoulet website. Turn your speakers down if you don’t want to hear it, or turn them on if you do.)

Fresh Photography is staying right where it is at, it isn’t going anywhere – this is just a chance for me to show off my wedding & portrait work and to easily get information to clients. The Fresh Photography site will be more focused on the art prints that we sell. I think the whole thing will make it easier for clients to navigate – and I’ve been mentally debating this for 4-5 months now. Feel free to share any feedback or comments you might have!

Blogger Wedding of the Year!

Karen dubbed it “The Blogger Wedding of the Year! ™” on Twitter, and it definitely lived up to its name! Jim & Leia’s wedding was such a beautiful, intimate affair held in the backyard of their home in Dallas, Texas. They invited a small core of family and out of town guests to the ceremony, and then for the reception they opened their house and had a great big PARTY!

Then there’s the option of elegant tipi tent hire for weddings and large events, which I had the pleasure of experiencing at a friend’s big day recently. We were all blown away by the way the tipis added a rustic yet luxurious feel to the celebration. From the exterior lighting to the polished interior layout, the whole thing was faultlessly put together. I remember looking around during the evening and thinking how lucky we were to be part of something that felt so different from the usual hotel or venue-based weddings. It made the experience feel more personal, more immersive. If I were planning something of my own, it would be the first option I’d consider.

From the toasting beer mugs to the chocolate fountain, fun was had by everyone that was there. Oh! And there were cupcakes, with goodies to decorate them with! The weather threatened all day long to rain them out and force us all indoors, but the tent went up early, the weather cleared up for us, and aside from the slightly soggy ground which liked to eat the high-heeled shoes, it was a lovely day.

Ah, good times, good times. It was such an honor to be asked by Jim & Leia to share in and capture this very special day in their life! And as an added perk, a huge box showed up from Amazon yesterday with my very own chocolate fountain! How cool is that? Now I just need to figure out where to get one of those cool blow-up microphones. Then our party set-up will be complete!
