More Photos…

If you were to attend SXSW and wondered if you should bring your laptop – here is the answer! L to R – Dori, Jay, me, Cory (in the glasses) and Molly. While you can’t tell in the photo, Molly & I are working on 2 of the 4 PC’s I spotted there, everyone else has Macs. Following Jay’s suggestion in his latest Travelogue update, I think next year I will bring the blahblahmobile to Austin. At least if I drive it around I won’t go days without knowing that the battery is dead!

Cyber-Riffing

From the Tuesday Keynote: Doctorow and Sterling Cyber-Riffing at SXSW. More on Bruce Sterling here and here. More on Cory Doctorow here. One of my favorite quotes? “Be as selfish as you possibly can — the more crap you download, the more crap there is for everyone to download.” – Doctorow [via nf0]

I am Always Easily Amused…

Just a wave to Pamela, who like me is Easily Amused. I didn’t blog about the weblog awards too much, and that’s where I met her at – so I didn’t note her URL here! Her “web cards” were beautiful, by the way. She was super smart in making them to pass out – not like dorkus me who forgot until the last minute and then it was too late to get them done. Next year. Or maybe now. If you want a BlahBlahBlog/Pixelwannabe card just send me an e-mail at me at blahblahblog.com and I’ll mail you one. Send your address, ok? Meanwhile, go laugh at Pamela’s photos of 8 people crammed in her car.

Sleep…

Obviously, I needed sleep. Lots of sleep. I went home last night from the office, got something to eat, watched The Amazing Race, and then decided I wanted to be a little more comfortable on the couch while watching Law & Order. I made it through the opening scene – I don’t think I saw anything after the commercial break. So I slept from 9:10pm to 7:20am. And I’m still tired. So the photos aren’t even downloaded off the camera yet – I have to figure out the best way to get them online. Well, the fastest way.

Now let’s back up to the excitement of Tuesday night. The Tuesday panels were pretty good, I learned a lot from them. After they were over I headed back to the Radisson where my car was still parked. I thought about going to the “Sexiest Geek Alive” party to get Martin’s autograph for Robyn, but discovered it was 30-40 minutes away, and I wanted to go to the Adaptive Path party in an hour & a half. (I did take a picture of Martin though from 15-20 feet away from the stage during the “pagent” so at least I have that for her.) I got a bite to eat at the TGIFriday’s at the Radisson, went to the party, talked to cool people (I could recap that all, but it would be boring for you since you weren’t there and I’m too tired to find all those links anyways) and then we decided to go over to Bruce Sterling’s house party. I offered to drive since my plan was to stay at a cheaper hotel on the edge of town; Meryl & I had checked out of the Radisson that morning. I had noticed when I put my stuff in the car that my car remote lock clicky thing wasn’t working, the darn battery was dead. What I discovered though was that it wasn’t the car remote battery that was dead – it was the car battery itself. Ugh. So we took a cab to Bruce Sterling’s house, and from there to Katz’s later on to eat. Problem was, I needed a place to stay for the night, and there was no way I could pay $160 for a night at the Radisson – if there were even rooms available. Thank goodness that after asking around a bit, I remembered that Dori didn’t have a roommate and she was *wonderful* and kind enough to let me stay with her. (THANK YOU!) So yesterday morning I had to call the boss and tell him I would be later then I had planned, and then I had to call my insurance company because I have towing coverage and they will handle things like a dead battery. I left about 11:45am and made it back here before 3. It was funny, I was sad about leaving Austin – but at the same time I was happy to be home.
