Clean and Fresh!

The new skin is available, but for some reason I can’t get the background to show up on the index page, and I have some random div tags that need to be moved around. I’m about to beat my head on the keyboard over this background not showing up though – I just don’t get it! CSS makes my eyes bleed! Augh! It was working just fine in my test page! (Any CSS gurus have a clue?)

Update: I gave in and added the background to the body tag. It was done using CSS before in the test page though, so I can’t figure out why it won’t work now. Gah.

CSS?!? I was trying to do CSS on Friday night, working w/ a book, and I kept hearing your phrase in my head over and over: “CSS makes my eyes bleed” “CSS makes my eyes bleed”. I don’t know what it is, I sat for half an hour at Barnes and Noble trying to find the BEST book on CSS that wasn’t like three inches thick and either the book sucks or CSS is just so counter-intuitive that even the authors can’t help me that much. It’s the kind of thing that would make my hubby Mike get up from the table and pretending to walk funny like he just got screwed in the *ss by CSS. Hahahah…

The light gray w/picture is by far my favourite. Sidebar is still at bottom, background’s fine.

Oh, and since this is my last comment for today, how often do you check your PO box??

CSS isn’t a weekend project — it’s the only good way to do layout that will still be valid in 5 years. There are web standards, and the problem isn’t, as I said in a different comment, with CSS. It’s with the browser(s) that don’t support web standards properly.

Sorry, but in order to truly understand and/or master CSS, you’re going to have to read a thick book. Best ones are Zeldman’s Designing with Web Standards and CSS in a Nutshell.

I’ve read several CSS books, and I don’t consider it a weekend project – matter of fact, I first started working on this template in April. CSS just normally ends up frustrating me, every single time. It doesn’t help that I am bullheaded and insist on doing everything in Notepad. Also, it would be easy if I was just dealing with one design – but the skins throw and interesting kink in to the mix. All in all … I’m just glad I didn’t end up with a migraine!
