Done. At Last.

I didn’t realize how long it had been since I actually sat down and designed a website from scratch until it came time to break out my mad HTML skills to create Doug and Chelsey’s Wedding website. I’ve always been a hand-coding sort of girl, but when you haven’t done it in a long time it can be quite frustrating!

First, I didn’t like any graphics that I had to work with. Then I couldn’t find any calla lillies in the right shade of plum. (Those are still a little light, but looked best on with the site.) I”ve been working on this for days and I have a huge welt from beating my head on the wall. But tonight I finally had a breakthrough. I found the right shade of plum. I realized that if I made their photo more sepia-toned it would work better with the page. I found a cream color that worked for the box. Kymberlie graciously let me use the code I wrote for her when she first started blogging to get towards a layout that I liked.

At last. I can be really picky, and I just wasn’t happy with anything I came up with for her site until now. Finally.

There is a lot left to do – there are more pages that she wants added, but I don’t have content for them yet. I need to make buttons and graphics for the sidebar. She might hate those calla lillies when she sees them. But I don’t care. I broke through the barrier and got a site up and running. I can code again!

If Chelsey & Kymberlie weren’t throwing a bridal shower for me tomorrow, I would probably spend the day cranking out our wedding website. But there are plans for a girlie day, and I can’t WAIT! I’m looking forward to spending time with the people that are going to be able to make it, and I’ll really miss those of you that can’t attend – but I truly understand!

Yeah! I can code HTML again! Go me!

It sure is frustrating…that’s why I choose the easy way out…get programs with templates. I know it is not as nice but it cuts my frustration down a bit. These short cutters programs really work well, except when you try to use php.
