I’ve been working on this for awhile, but with everything else going on I haven’t been working on it enough. I need to find a new home for my cat. I’m heartbroken and sad, and neither Jason nor I could handle taking him to the Humane Society. I just can’t do it.
Jason’s allergies are to the point where they have said he is so sensitive to everything the cats must go. We actually have two cats, but at this time I can’t give up Mona too. Baby steps here.
We picked a pretty “allergy-proof” house – hardwood floors and tile downstairs, except the master bedroom, so the dust mites can’t survive. We have leather furniture in the living room right now, and will probably replace that with leather someday. The cats are not allowed in Jason’s room – to help cut down on the dander. But it’s still not enough.
I got him from the VAP group here in Houston, and I am going to try to contact them to see if they will adopt him out again. I just have to know that he has a good home. If they can’t help, I don’t know what I will do.
So, if you live in Houston and would like to have a sweet, adorable, fun fat cat – PLEASE let me know. He’s all yours. I just want to save him from the Humane Society. I refuse to take him there…

Post up a pic to be included in Carnival of the Cats and we’ll see if that doesn’t help get the little booger adopted.
Oh, no! I wish I could take him, but I have three already and Michael would kill me if I even thought about it. (Not to mention that three cats for three days en route to NJ will be bad enough.)
Good luck finding him a new home!
I’m in Michigan, but seriously — if I had a way of getting him here, I’d adopt him in a second. Really.
I’m sorry to hear that – but I too am allergic to cats! *achoo* I know he’ll find a good home Christine – keep looking!
From one cat-lover to another, my heart goes out to you. I hope your baby finds a good home. I wish I could help out in some way. Best of luck!
Give us a little more info on his personality and a picture! Nelson could use a new brother! 😉

they have a lot of them in H-town.http://www.volunteermatch.org/orgs/org22772.html
Just a thought?
That’s really sad:( I hope you find a good home for her.
this is sad. this is one reason why i don’t want to have pets.
Hmmm…my husband is flying back home (Chicago) from Laredo through Houston on Wednesday. I would love to have a new cat. Can you imagine showing up at the airport and saying, “your wife wants you to bring this home with you!!” The thought makes me laugh. Guess it won’t work no matter how much I’d like a new cat in our lives.
Good luck finding a good home for her.
If I were closer I’d take him in a second. I guess you’re not coming to Boston anytime soon?
Anyway, good luck! 🙂
Are you NUTS? If your cat ‘goes to a good home’ via the internet or even a newspaper, I will be amazed. If you’ve already gotten rid of it, heaven only knows what really happened to it. NEVER, ever, offer a pet to a good home for free again-it’s only a come on to those who want to offer it just the opposite!
A man in my area (Milwaukee) was looking for ads such as yours. He’d take his two kids along to make it look like a ‘family venture’, get whatever pet was offered, take it home and torture it. When he beat, tortured and stuffed an 8 mo. old German Shepherd-mix puppy into a can and sealed the lid while it was still alive, he was finally caught by the authorities. The previous owner of a cat and the GS were just sick. The cat owner commented that ‘he now knew why the kids weren’t excited about getting a new pet’- they knew what the outcome for the poor thing would be. Sure enough, like all of the others before and after, it was tortured to death.
This is the worst possible way to find your animal a good home-ever. If you don’t believe me, check out the internet. Type in ‘to a good home’ in the search box and you’ll see what I mean.
I hope for your cat’s sake that it didn’t end up going to someone that you ‘met’ on the net. Or, if you still have it-please go to a cat rescue site and learn how to do find it a home like a responsible pet owner.
I’ve been looking very hard for the right fat cat to have. I have little two boston terriers and I’ve been trying to find a cat that does not mind dogs. I live in Houston and have a little home with a fenced yard and if your cat does not mind dogs, I would love to give it a new home. You are welcome to visit and check out my house to make sure your cat is going to a good home if you have qualms about giving your pet to a stranger.
