I Recommend Palmolive…

Do you remember Madge and the “You’re soaking in it!” commercials? They may have come out in the 60’s, but I remember them from the 70’s. Along with “I bring home the bacon … and fry it up in pan …” Enjolie! Then there was the “And so on… and so on…” commercials, where word of mouth about the latest shampoo made little pictures of this woman multiply on the screen. Those were the days of the great commercials. Mr. Whipple. Aunt Jemima, when the syrup bottle talks. And the Kool-aid man breaking all barriers. Commercials these days are so boring in comparision. I wonder if 25 years from now we will look back and find the commercials of today as amusing? I am sure we will.

The only one that made me laugh out loud lately was the diet pepsi one where the guy wishes for the hair he had in high school. And he turns up with Flock of Seagulls hair.
ha! ahahaaa hee hee

Where’s the Beef? One I remember is the Lee Press-On Nails commercials… I know that it wasn’t the most common one but it was on practically every other commercial and I memorized the whole damn thing. That and the MacDonalds commercial… “Big Mac, McDLT, Quarterpounder with some Cheese, Fillet of fish……” Ok I’ll stop now. :cD

I kinda like the one for Red Lobster where the waitress tells the man he can have more shrimp (all u can eat) and he gets up and hugs her while his wife looks embarrassed.

Commercial Memories

I can’t believe I ate the whooole thing.
(Alka-Seltzer I think it was)

The Frito Bandito

The hair color commercials with the babe in the man’s shirt singin’ Aretha’s “You Make Me feel Like a Natural Woman” or whatever the title is…

whatkinIsay? I thought it was sexy. (still do for that matter) >8^)

How about:

If it says Libby, Libby, Libby’s
On the label, label, label
You will like it, like it, like it
on your table, table, table…

Of course by virtue of my name, and my severe case of picky eating, I hated the Life Cereal commercials!!!!

when i was a kid, those “Charlie” perfume commercials really turned me on… as if i was old enough to know what being turned on felt like. Oh, same with those risque “Jean Nate” commercials… oooooo naked women and body splashing!

Kinda young, kinda now
Charlie
Kinda free, kinda wow!
Charlie
The kinda fragrance that’s
here to stay
and they call it
Charlie!

I believe the actress in the ’85/’86 “Charlie Perfume” commercials was Karen Duffy (remember that line, “the original original”). Not sure about this, though. I loved that commercial, but I always wondered about that sensual sax music that played along – does anybody know the name of the song or the artist who played it? and whether it’s an actual song as opposed to just a brief clip of music to accompany the ads? i’d really love to know. thanking you in advance.
