I love shopping at Overstock.com. I have bought various things from them over the years – cordless phones, a computer keyboard, little things here and there. Some of the deals can’t be beat, you just have to look for them.
However, I hate their new TV ad campaign. With a passion. I hate how the spokeswoman talks in this ultra-soothing voice, telling us all that, “It’s all about the Ooooooooo.” Seriously leaves you wondering what she is trying to pitch, doesn’t it?
I thought maybe that was just an issue I had with the commercials, but last night at dinner my Dad asked, “What is that commercial with the big ‘O’ for?” I told him that it was for Overstock, and his response? “Oh, I thought it was maybe for some porn company!”
Maybe that is their point? I don’t know. I just don’t get it.

I hate those commercials with a PASSION. I want to punch that chick in the face everytime I see her.
Just don’t order magazines from them. You’ll NEVER get them.
I hate it too!!! I thought I was all alone out there with my hate for those commercials. When she’s talking about her books then let’s her hair down and tosses it. Ugh! They need to get a new spokesperson, she’s making me sick with that “an on occassion” crap. 😉
I’ve had good luck with Overstock – but I’ll agree, the commercials make me wonder if the reasons the prices are so low are because there’s *another line* subsidizing the difference
Overstock, great – commercial, really bad. Looks great in here!
Whenever I see those commercials I always think it’s another stupid ad for the Oxygen Channel.
I don’t think Overstock is a bad site, but it sure is misnamed. They even have pre-orders now. How can a pre-order be an overstock?
LOL! Glad to see I’m not the only one thinking this!
However, I’ve yet to try the site out! For some reason I figured it be a rip off or something…
So tell us, ladies, is it really “all about the O?”
My husband would say that from a marketing standpoint they’ve succeeded, because look! They got you talking about and remembering their commercial, which means you remember their name. They don’t care if you hate it, as long as you remember it. Those sneaky devils!
I’ve never seen the commercials–guess that’s a good thing! 🙂 But I do love their site.
I hate the look on her face at the very end. That little smirky smile. Blech.
I really like their site. I buy art supplies from them to use for my watercolor and oil paintings.
we r in school and we came across your website when we searched OOOOO in google
