I’m just a bill.
Yes, I’m only a bill.
And I’m sitting here on Capitol Hill.
Well, it’s a long, long journey
To the capital city.
It’s a long, long wait
While I’m sitting in committee,
But I know I’ll be a law someday
At least I hope and pray that I will,
But today I am still just a bill…
Come on, sing it with me! It’s stuck in my head – now it can be stuck in yours too!
Congressman: He signed you, Bill! Now you’re a law!
Bill: Oh yes!!!

Bad girl!
thanks…it wasn’t in MY head…until now that is!
Over and over for over an hour or two… it just won’t stop!
—The Simpsons
I constantly have the verb song in myhead…particularly, the Moby version. Aw, shit.
It sure beats the crap out of the Foxwoods casino song that we have to hear on TV and radio ads a million times a day in the summertime! 🙂
Mike was singing the Verb song after lunch today. I’ve always been a bigger fan of “Lolly, Lolly, Lolly get your adverbs here” and “Conjunction Junction.”
He was also telling me about the Simpson’s version – and now, thanks to Michael (great minds think alike!) I can check it out!
Someday I’m gonna be a LAAAAAAW
Oh yes I hope and pray that I will
but today I am still
just a bill
Schoolhouse Rock just plain rocks. 🙂
The Simpsons version for your readers who want to listen: Amendment Song (MP3)
schoolhouse rock? that is the only one i have ever seen!
I was going to point out the Simpsons version, but I guess I’m not the only geek around here ;-).
And thanks for the mp3 link Michael.
(I’ve got a Conjunction Junction t-shirt, it never fails to get comments.)
We watched the “Lolly Lolly Lolly Get Your Adverbs Here” in my English class last year, along with the verb one and “Conjunction Junction”. (Conjunction Junction is my favorite, by far!) She actually gave us a quiz on the movie too. No wonder I loved that class.
Jane, say it isn’t so! I don’t like the newer Schoolhouse Rock songs (I guess because I didn’t see them when I was a kid), but I love the old ones. Eight, Three is a Magic Number, Conjunction Junction, Lolly Lolly Lolly Get Your Adverbs Here, Interplanet Janet, We the People … oh, the list goes on & on!
Stacey, it’s interesting that you mention that – they say that kids really do remember this stuff and it helps them in school – which I think is wonderful!
“Conjunction Junction” was always the best!
It’s people like you that are the problem in this country.
