Just to Make You Jealous…

I would like to point out to those of you living in the really freakin’ cold states up north that I have not turned on my heat yet this winter. Not once. Not at all.

Originally, I didn’t turn it on because the weather was bouncing from cold to hot – so once I would have heated my apartment, I then would have had to cool it back down. Then we had a stretch of cold days in the 40s, but my apartment stayed in the 60s – so I just put on a sweatshirt and socks. Now I’m holding out for the sake of lower light bills and keeping my allergies from going crazy. Something about turning on the heat ends up making me hellaciously sick. I figure that I’ve made it this long and been relatively healthy this winter (aside from tonsillitus; my allergies have been mild this year) so what is the point in messing up a good thing?

This post will come back to bite me in the ass in August when it is 100 degrees outside and there is no shade and we’re running the AC to cool a whole house. Oh well, for now I’m happy and comfy in my little apartment, and I’m still not turning on the heat.

Of course, you probably are benefitting somewhat from the heated apartments all around you, insulating you from the real brunt of it. Hallelujah! (And yes, Munin, for us Texans 40 degrees DOES feel rather inclement!)

Well you can take a WARM shower and feel a lot better if you are cold. That is great on saving on the bill, and your right it will come to get ya when you move in that house with mike. : D

YOU KNOW HOW TEXAS HEAT IS….

I am from corpus but at least we got the wind :O)

I soooo hate you. :p I’ve had my heat on for months now. I’ve got it cranked as far as it’ll go, and it’s STILL cold in my apt … especially when there’s a north wind (like today). We had over a week of around -20° temps not too long ago. We’re having a heat wave of 15° now. Winter in North Dakota sucks!!

As a lifelong Houston area resident, I absolutely hate Houston weather. I live in Nacogdoches right now, so I at least get to enjoy the cool fronts that get to the north side of beltway 8 and then stop.

I can’t even imagine a winter without the furnace! For as much as I complain about the cold here, I’m finding I have less tolerance for the summer heat and humidity than I used to. Although, I am so tired of walking on snow covered ice. It’s like I’m an old woman inching along just to keep from falling. [snort]

we haven’t turned on the heat this winter so far either. we’ve been sleeping with the windows open every night… of course, with the blankets pulled up to our chins, but still… 😉 southern cali for ‘ya!

This post may bite you in the ass like you say, but the thing is… it may be BELOW ZERO up here on what seems to be a regular basis in the winter, but it’ll be just as hot as it is down there too! Sooo, what I’m saying is I’m damned if I do, and I’m damned if I don’t!

Texas @ 40 degrees = “a cold stretch”
Boston @ 40 Degrees = “a warm front”
I’ve been enjoying this warm 40 degree weather 🙂

Ditto that. Real New Englanders open up the windows when it gets to 40 degrees!

I’m jealous! Actually, the only thing on our side is the lack of humidity. Forty DRY degrees isn’t nearly as cold as forty degrees that seeps into your bones. And it’s 100 degrees in the summer here, too, but again…it’s a DRY heat! LOL!
