I feel so … l337. (That’s “leet” if you were wondering.) So cutting edge. So cool.
My old laptop has reached the point where BSoDs about every 10-15 minutes. Needless to say, you can’t get anything done like that. I’m under doctor’s orders not to use the computer at the desk as it causes all the pain issues in my hand and shoulder to flair up. So I’ve been stuck for weeks now – I either get so stressed out I want to chuck the laptop across the living room or I end up with ice on my shoulder for the rest of they day from trying to use the computer at the desk.
I finally realized that Mike had an old laptop that was just gathering dust, so I asked him to set it up for me. After putting a hard drive into it – you know, details – he set it up to use Slax, a version of Linux that boots up from a CD. I’m all cool and hip, using Linux. I feel like such an ubergeek right now.
Well, if you ignore the fact that it almost looks like Windows; it has a beautiful interface. Plus all I’m running right now is a web browser. But hey, I’m still cool and using Linux, even if only in the most simple form! And I’m online – maybe the twitching from the withdrawals will stop now!

Linux is pretty easy to use nowadays. I love Mepis myself. I have played around wit Slax a little.
Shhhhhh… don’t let everyone in on my secret. They won’t think I’m as cool if they knew how easy it was!
aha! I see you’re catching up on teenager IM lingo. 😉 My 13 year old brother is ‘educating’ his naive sister on the lingo as well. I was under the impression that ‘leet’ was 1337. Maybe it’s a regional thing.
u need a better life
Hi! I love your site….very fun and tres chic! 😉 I too am a “geek”. I own a wine shop – but I also work FT as a Web Application developer and IT support, etc… anyway. Reason for my post is that I thought I had carpal tunnel – turns out it’s ulnar nerve. Just as uncomfortable – but along the pinky and ring finger – up to the elbow where your “funny bone” is. Nothing much to do other than surgery (not an option I want), or wrist brace and ergometrically correct keyboards, etc… You’re brave to go through the cortisone. I haven’t heard wonderful things about them; but hopefully it will help you some! 🙂
Nick – dude, don’t we all? 😉
Rebecca – back in the early ’90s, they said I had issues with my ulnar nerve too. Sometimes my elbow hurts, but not all the time, and this time around my pinky & ring finger aren’t tingling as much.
