I find the subtle differences between the people I am working with at my temp job and the people I worked with for a year and a half at the web company amusing. Maybe it’s because the male to female ratio is different, but it’s the little things that get my attention. I wore a skirt today that I hadn’t worn last week. It’s one I got last year and when I first wore it to the old job Kymberlie was the only person who noticed. Today? I had at least 4 people comment on how they really liked my skirt. It’s amazing how a small compliment like that can really brighten your day.
It was a crazy chaotic day just like yesterday – there are trials coming up along with depositions. I’m doing really well though and getting back in to the groove of things, but I am so tired when the day is over. Tonight I sat down while waiting for my dinner to finish cooking and I was falling asleep within minutes. Don’t you just hate it when you do the head bob thing where the jerk of your head falling forward wakes you back up? I started my day off though with a really great e-mail from one of the partners telling me that he had noticed my hard work and how great it has been to have me around – I can’t tell you how thrilled that made me! (And how it makes me hope they will make the job permanent!)
Adding to my thrills of the day, I got to have lunch with Kathy, her husband Tom & Mike. Kathy isn’t normally in downtown, but had a dentist appointment so she was off of work and headed that way! Mike didn’t think he was going to be able to join us at first, but he ended up needing to come downtown for a meeting so it worked out perfectly. We had a really nice time visiting.
After lunch, I headed across to the hair salon where I used to get my hair cut. Cruz, my former stylist, stopped what he was doing the second he saw me. It was nice to be remembered after being gone for 3 years. Then again, I brought him a ton of clients back then and he still cuts Chelsey’s hair. She said that he asks about me all the time – so he was surprised when I just showed up at the shop!
All in all, a busy but really good day.
