As Casey FitzRandolph climbed to the top of the podium tonight to receive the gold medal for Men’s Speed Skating, 500m, I have to stop to say thank you. He is actually singing the national anthem. As sweet as it was to see a US sweep on the podium last night after the snowboarding competition, not a single one of the three of them was singing. Not only did Casey sing, he cried. That, to me, is an Olympic moment.
My two pet peeves? People that have raggedy flags hanging on their cars (very, very disrespectful to the flag if it’s hanging in tattered threads) and people that don’t sing the national anthem, especially when representing the USA. Ok, not like I have only two pet peeves – I have lots of them. Those are just two of them that seemed important right now…

I agree with you about the tattered flags.
i want to say thank you for mentioning Casey’s singing… i saw that medal ceremony last night and i know i could never hear the national anthem played in my honor without singing along misty-eyed!
