On Kinnearing…

I still remember when the Yarn Harlot posted her first attempts at Kinnearing on her blog – but I had no idea it had gone so far:

Most excellent!

Beautiful Tube Photos Inspire Me…

I found this site the other day, and then forgot about it until I saw it in Pixeldiva’s “Things I Find Interesting” post. Then I realized, I should write more about it.

New Perspectives of the London Underground

These photographs amaze me. Something so simple, so everyday and common place probably for the photographer, captured so perfectly. I’ve been there – and looking at those photos takes me back to it all.

Looking through them makes me want to drop everything and go take amazing photographs.

What inspires you?

The Cult of Done Manifesto…

Oh goodness. How I needed to read this today.

The Cult of Done Manifesto (from Bre Pettis.)

There are three states of being. Not knowing, action and completion.
Accept that everything is a draft. It helps to get it done.
There is no editing stage.
Pretending you know what you’re doing is almost the same as knowing what you are doing, so just accept that you know what you’re doing even if you don’t and do it.
Banish procrastination. If you wait more than a week to get an idea done, abandon it.
The point of being done is not to finish but to get other things done.
Once you’re done you can throw it away.
Laugh at perfection. It’s boring and keeps you from being done.
People without dirty hands are wrong. Doing something makes you right.
Failure counts as done. So do mistakes.
Destruction is a variant of done.
If you have an idea and publish it on the internet, that counts as a ghost of done.
Done is the engine of more.

Greetings from Las Vegas!

View from our fancy suite at the MGM in Las Vegas!

After a two hour delay – meaning I landed in Las Vegas after midnight Houston time – I’m here now for the annual WPPI convention. (Wedding & Portrait Photographers International.) My friend Corey scored a sweet deal on a suite at the MGM Grand several months ago, and she offered to let me split the room with her. Perfect! I spent so little time in the room last year it seemed like, it was just silly to rent a room for myself. When I discovered my friend Anne needed a roommate too, I talked to Corey, and we invited her to join us – along with the other PhotoLoveCat editor, Jillian. (Kirstie won’t be joining us this year, unfortunately.)

Under $100 a night, split 4 ways = AWESOME!!! It is going to be such a great week!
