I Guess I Need to Go Back to School…

It’s the last weekend before Science Fair (yay! It’s almost over!) and the projects for this “phase” are for Jason to write his speech and put together his backboard for the fair on Wednesday. After going back and forth about the speech, we moved on to the backboards. We printed everything out, I had my Olfa mat, ruler and cutter ready, and then I learned something.

I can not cut a straight line.

Sure, I can cut a straight line with my awesome and amazing editor scissors, but with the mat and the rotary cutter – forget it! Gah! I’ve done several practice sheets (after butchering the original printing of his Purpose and Hypothesis – thank goodness for computers!), and they all turn out the same – very crooked.

I guess I need to go back to school to learn to cut a straight line. Maybe Michaels has some crafty classes that can help me out in the future. For today, we’re going to end up getting my Mom to help – she’s the cutting pro!

Just to Make You Jealous…

I would like to point out to those of you living in the really freakin’ cold states up north that I have not turned on my heat yet this winter. Not once. Not at all.

Originally, I didn’t turn it on because the weather was bouncing from cold to hot – so once I would have heated my apartment, I then would have had to cool it back down. Then we had a stretch of cold days in the 40s, but my apartment stayed in the 60s – so I just put on a sweatshirt and socks. Now I’m holding out for the sake of lower light bills and keeping my allergies from going crazy. Something about turning on the heat ends up making me hellaciously sick. I figure that I’ve made it this long and been relatively healthy this winter (aside from tonsillitus; my allergies have been mild this year) so what is the point in messing up a good thing?

This post will come back to bite me in the ass in August when it is 100 degrees outside and there is no shade and we’re running the AC to cool a whole house. Oh well, for now I’m happy and comfy in my little apartment, and I’m still not turning on the heat.

No, I’m Not Okay…

I own two copies of Gross Pointe Blank, however I had never watched the movie before last night at Emily’s house. She took me in so I wouldn’t be sitting at home being pouty about the whole job thing, and the movie was a perfect fit. I even got a new line out of it!

“Are you okay?”
“No, I’m not okay. I’m hurt, I’m pissed, and I gotta find a new job.”

That about sums things up. I go between a-ok happy and gleeful to mad and pouting. So for now, I’m just sticking with that line.

I Still Love You…

If you’re one of the many, many people that asked for access on my restricted access posts, I am not ignoring you. I have a ton of e-mails to go through, and I am getting through them as fast as I can. You’ll get a note back when it’s set up, or an e-mail back asking for more details on who you are so I can grant access. For now, I have an interview at 10:00 am 11:00 am (she just called to move it) to finish getting ready for!

Has He Been Living on Mars?

I’m sitting at Kaveh Kane’s waiting for the rush hour traffic to die down. I have my laptop here (free WiFi!), but there are public computers on the counter for anyone to use. (I’m telling you, this place rocks!)

A customer, probably in his 20s or 30s, just asked the guy behind the counter, “How do I get to Yahoo?”

I froze. I mean, seriously? He doesn’t know how to get to Yahoo? Really? Am I just being crazy thinking that anyone should be able to get there?

Then he asked if he had to go through AOL. That might explain something.

Then he asked how to do an underscore. Ok, if you know what the underline-thingie is called, shouldn’t you know how to do it?

Wow. I … I don’t know. I’m just speechless. He had to be shown how to get to Yahoo. Wow. I wonder if he knows how to Google? Probably not. Just amazing…
