Some day I aspire to do Polaroid Image Transfers. So cool.

Fanilow Love Delayed…
All day long I have been telling people, “Guess WHAT?!? I get to see BARRY MANILOW on Thursday!” Yes, a long-time dream come true. Mike bought the tickets as my birthday present, and I have been giddy about it ever since.
Tonight, my Mom called to tell me that Diana had left a comment that the show was cancelled. CANCELLED?!? How could that BE? I’ve been waiting all my life for this concert, and Barry had the audacity to CANCEL it?!?!??? What?!?
Turns out that he has a severe case of bronchitis and “As a ‘live’ performer, Manilow is unable to sing until he recovers.”
Yeah, LIVE baby. No Ashlee Simpson for Barry Manilow. No Milli Vanilli for him. He is singing LIVE, and if he is sick, he can’t sing.
So my Fanilow dream has been postponed. I won’t get to see him until November 17th. I have two more weeks now to let everyone I talk to in Houston know that I will be there to see Manilow, and they are missing out. Except Diana, she’ll be there too (in seats much better than mine, with backstage passes. *sigh*)
Oh, and the ticket company sent Mike an e-mail today to let him know that the show was moved, so I guess we might have found out eventually. But it was better to learn it here, from another sad Fanilow…
The Results…
Yep, Kerry lost. Bush won. Fine. I’m at least happy that we finally have a president elected by the popular vote. I still think that the Electoral College should be modified to vote in percentages or it should be abolished completely. I realize that Kerry lost the popular vote, so this wouldn’t have mattered much this time – but it still needs to be changed. I was happy to see that 45% of Harris County (Houston) voters voted for Kerry. It’s nice to know I’m not completely surrounded by Bush supporters. Not that I don’t like Republicans – I agree with them on many points. Just not all.
Tom DeLay was elected again. I’m terrified of what that man might do this time around. I didn’t get to vote against him, as I’m in one of the new districts. I’m still convinced that he is the son of Satan or something equally evil.
Like many people, I’m glad the election is over.
Hmmm… I wonder if Mike can get transferred back to London for the next 4 years…
Now I really wish that Nader had been on the ballot in Texas. I mean, really … anyone that will will stage a debate with figurines of Kerry and Bush deserves to be president. Don’t you think?
(For the record, I’m not serious. I just needed an excuse to link to those hysterical photos. I can’t believe Nadar did that.)
Another Reason to Vote…
I noticed something really interesting while looking at these Polls. For some time, I’ve said that “my vote won’t count” in Texas; all it does is cancels out someone else’s vote. (Girl let me cancel out her vote – and she cancelled out mine – so we’re even.) However, when you look at the polls, Bush is only ahead in Texas by 20%.
Statistically, often only 50% of all registered voters turn out to vote. Of course, this election has seen very high numbers, so that’s not always the case. But just imagine if *all* of the Kerry voters turned out, but only some of the Bush voters turned out? Yeah, Kerry could actually win Texas.
I still don’t think it will happen, but it’s not impossible. What does that mean to you?
GET OUT AND VOTE.
