You Would Tell Me, Right?

Our firm Christmas party is tomorrow night. There will be a White Elephant gift exchange; the kind with nice gifts – not gag gifts. We have a $30 spending limit. Everyone at work always comments about how much they like the lotion that I make but they have never seen the holiday soaps. So my big plan was to make a nice gift bag with several holiday soaps, a nice vanilla candle, a stress relief heat pack for your shoulders, a back massager thing, and one of the top foot massagers for plantar fasciitis. Is that cheesy though that I’m making the soaps that I’m including? I mean – I sell them. If I bought them, I know what they would cost. So that’s ok, isn’t it?

I haven’t made soap in awhile, and had forgotten just how much fun it can be! Especially creating new things – I got a flying pig mold earlier this year and I think the new soaps I made in it are going to be adorable! I’ll post a photo tomorrow when they are ready. My snowflakes and my Celtic knot hearts look wonderful too!

Like Wind Through my Ears…

While reading Promo’s recent post about Talk Radio Streams, I was reminded of an odd quirk that I have. I can’t listen to talk radio. At all. I can’t listen to it in the car – it makes me carsick. I can’t listen to it at home – it sounds like the Charlie Brown teachers – “mwuaha mwah mwaaah mwah…” I can’t focus on it, I just don’t get it. It’s actually not just talk radio shows – I mean, I would love to be able to listen to them – but I also can’t listen to baseball games or football games on the radio. Even when I knew who every player was on the Astros and what position they played, I couldn’t handle it.

I’ve discovered over the years that I learn the best when I see things and hear them – if I go to a class where someone lectures and writes on the board at the same time for example. I can also pick up a lot of things from reading. For some reason, I must have a visual aid though – and talk radio just doesn’t work for me.

Is it just me?

(P.S. – Illness update: fever gone, temps normal. Lumps in throat and glands still huge. Doctor’s appointment at 2:00.)

Sprint Sucks!

Mike & I were discussing today how much we hate Sprint (mainly because there is no signal at my house), and that we would like to switch to Cingular. Looking at phones, our main choices were the Ericsson T616 or the Nokia 3600. The Nokia takes slightly better photos and allows you to expand the memory with a memory card, but it is big, bulky, and has the funky round dial. Oh, and it costs $150 more. The Ericsson has a “joystick” nub thing that I found hard to use at first, and the number keys are a little smaller, but it’s $150 less then the Nokia. Feedback on either phone? Anyone have moblog photos from the Ericsson that I can check out?

(Yeah, I’m all about the feedback tonight. It could be worse – I could be complaining again about swollen glands and my sore throat again…)

Cafe Press?

I know that a lot of people out there have used Cafe Press for a variety of things – I’ve even had a “store,” Big Pink Cookie Goods, set up for some time. I just discovered all of the postcard and calendar options, and I’m curious – has anyone ordered from them before? How do things like mousepads or greeting cards come out? Are they any good? Have you ever bought anything from Cafe Press? Were you satisfied with what you got – or not?

I’ve always thought it would be cool to have greeting cards or postcards done with my own photos – but I would love feedback on the quality. If there were Pixelog prints available, would you buy them? Or would you prefer to just buy regular photographic prints?

All of these random thoughts started up because Derek has created an amazing Calendar and I’m feeling inspired…

Who Needs a Doctor?

Who needs a doctor when we have WebMD? Remember how I keep saying that I have no other symptoms other than a sore throat and a fever? Yeahhhh… seems that one of the signs you have Strep Throat is that it does “not occur with coldlike symptoms such as coughing, sneezing, or a runny or stuffy nose. In general, the more coldlike symptoms you have, the less likely it is that your sore throat is a strep infection.”

I have no coldlike symptoms. None. However, I do have a sore throat that started sudden and severe.

Oh … fun.
