The Sound of Silence…

First I started to wonder why I wasn’t getting any e-mail messages. I knew that tickets had come in to the Blogomania helpdesk, and I’m normally notified of them. Plus I had sent out a PayPal refund, I should have a payment receipt. Wow, no e-mails for two hours? Not even spam? This is odd, very odd.

Then I came to my site to see if it was online. Only to be greated with a blank white page. Augh!

So tonight I learned that if you’re 8mb over your allocated disk space on the server, mail shuts down. If you rebuild MT while over the limit, MT will generate a plain blank white page.

Nothing like a little jolt like that to wake me up! Everything should be back to normal now – let me know if you see anything odd. I deleted almost 1000 spam messages out of my spam folder without reading through them to verify whether or not they were legit – so if you send spam-like e-mail often, let me know. I glanced at them and didn’t recognize any names, so hopefully I didn’t delete any that I should have kept!

Smurf Stuff? Really?

I guess I had better watch what I write about here, because it seems that Google AdSense thinks that it should serve up the following ads for my site based on my content:

:: ComputerGear: Fun computer key caps, panic button and computer-nerd-silly stuff here!
:: Incredible Hulk tees: Big Face and Green torso shirts. Youth and adult sizes to 2XL.
:: Complete Smurf Inventory: Smurf Characters, Houses, Vehicles Playscapes, and Musical Smurfs.
:: Hulk: Find Movies, DVDs & More. Shop on eBay!

Wow. Smurf Inventory. And I freakin’ hate the smurfs, other than that Anne Nicole Smith Smurf parody they did a few months ago on Saturday Night Live. That was priceless.

I blame it all on my comments from the other day about the Hulk Hands – which I still think are goofy looking, and the commercial is lame.

Wonder what AdSense would try to serve up on your site? Try before you sell. [Via Moose Mike]

Don’t be a Hog!

If I am going to go to the gym, there are some things we need to discuss. These are primarily for the benefit of the two chicky-poos that were at my gym last night. No, they will probably never read this, but it will make me feel better anyways.

Lift slowly and lower slowly means slowly within reason. 30 seconds per lift (times 15 reps, times 3 sets) is a bit insane.

Don’t hog the machines. Yes, you should rest for a minute or two inbetween sets. Get your pretty little derriere up off the machine and let someone else use it during those two minutes. Someone that can do 15 reps in under 10 minutes. Someone like me that doesn’t appreciate being slowed down while you guys have social hour sitting on the leg machines.

And for the older lady at my gym, orange is not a good color for your skin. If you’re on medication or something that causes that orange effect, I’m sorry. Wearing an orange shirt at the same time with yellow socks? Not a good idea. Ouch. Made my eyes hurt. Blue might be a good color to try.

For everyone else? Keep up the good work. Going to the gym is the first step, and the fact that you’re there is the best thing you can do. I’ve really been enjoying it, and I feel better. My shoulder doesn’t hurt as much, my sleep patterns are better, it’s an all around good thing.

But if you should ever be at my gym at the same time I am … don’t hog the machines!

Stuck in the Middle…

I am literally in the middle of a split sky. On the left, it is blue and sunny with pretty white puffy clouds. On the right, it is storming, gray clouds with thunder.

Why is it that I feel like this is some strange metaphor for my life right now? There is no reason I can pinpoint, and yet it seems so symbolic. Something is brewing, winds are changing. I’m personally hoping that the sunny side wins out in the end, but I guess you can never have sunshine without rain.

I Hate CSS!

GAH!!! Two of the new skins (with photo and without) work just fine in IE 5.5 and Phoenix. No problems at all. But somewhere in my tweaking, I’ve broken something – and now they aren’t working right in IE 6. The sidebar is at the bottom. Have I mentioned before that CSS makes my eyes bleed?

I’m still grooving on the other two new skins (white and grey) and I might make the white one the new default template for the site. What do you think? Having the photos show up here on BPC is already nudging me to post more – I don’t want to keep looking at the same shot over and over again!
