I Think I Might Cry…

Syndirella is working well, don’t get me wrong. But then I installed NewzCrawler which Lisa recommended to me and all I can say is … WOW. Add to my amusement – just now as I pulled up her site, Newzcrawler told me that her site has an RSS feed. I think I’m going to cry.

Plus, any site that includes the Lockergnome Bits & Bytes the second I install it has to rock.

Jennifer pointed out that several of the sites she added to her news reader just showed excerpts for posts, not the full post – so it really isn’t much of a help to her. If you want me to read your site during the week, I beg & plead … update your RSS feed to include the full post. I’ve linked to the template at least 3 times this week, so you really have no excuse. I promise, I will come to your site and comment still. I’ll be happy, you’ll be happy, and it will all be good.

Testing…

Testing the new ping. If you’re wondering what on earth I’m talking about, check out ScriptyGoddess. Today is my play day after I finish up some more housework. I need to add and fix different things on this site, and meanwhile Matt is looking at my CSS so that I can come closer to the ultimate goal of being validated. Well, you know, with web standards and things like that.

If you could see anythign on this site – what would it be? What should I add? What am I missing? And an even bigger question – what skin do you use for this site? The white one with pictures, the gray one with pictures, the pink wafer cookie one, they gray cookie space ship or the psychedelic pink flower one?

King of the World!

I never really posted about the Bloggies last week. I told Nikolai that he may as well make me co-host for the awards because I was giving out prizes for 3 categories and accepting awards for a zillion more. It was a huge honor to be there to accept for ScriptyGoddess (twice), Nerdboy Mikey (I need your address!) and GeekGrrl. However, I think the highlight of the whole thing for me had to be the chance to give Ernie the prize I had purchased earlier that day on 6th Street in Austin. When he won Best Gay/Lesbian Blog, I officially crowned him King of the World. I think the rainbow chain link necklaces add a really nice touch, don’t you?

Instant Nostalgia…

I haven’t taken the time to wrap up my summary of SXSW, but Nikolai’s is so perfect, all that is left for me to fill in the things I did differently. You can visit his site to learn all about SXSW 2003: Dumb Mobs and Instant Nostalgia. Just follow the links on the bottom of the pages. [via Matt]

Validation…

My CSS may be wrong, but at least my RSS feed is valid. That counts for something, doesn’t it?

Now it’s time for me to shamelessly beg again that EVERYONE running MT takes the 5 minutes needed to head on over to Dive Into Mark, grab the RSS 2.0 template for Movable Type (I chose to “Save Target As” to grab it yesterday) and replace the default index.xml template. If you have deleted your index.xml template all together, I beg you to add one back and link to it on your index page.

Later this weekend I’ll be writing a “what is RSS and why do I love it?” post for ScriptyGoddess, and I’ll post a link to it here because I know I’ve got at least a few people curious. But for now – get the template and update it! Then tell me where you’ve put it on your site so I can add you!
