Name That Tune…

One of my biggest pet peeves is the fact that they never tell you a song title or the artist when you’re listening to the radio. Sure, sure, they complain that CD sales are down because we’re all downloading them off of Kazaa – but I do that in my desperate search to figure out who is singing the song normally! Nothing is worse then buying a CD and finding out it’s the wrong group or the song you wanted isn ‘t on it.

Well, now you can find out what that snappy tune you heard on the radio was online! If you know which station it was on and what time it was at, you can look it up at Yes.net! How is that for cool? (I’ll probably still check things out on Kazaa before I buy the CD though…) [via Todd]

The Torture Chamber…

I had a near death experience Friday night. I went shopping for clothes. I would rather die then shop for clothes again any time soon.

My black pants have developed a tear in the side seam that can’t just be mended. I needed to see if I could find some new black slacks. Oh my God. Nothing fits any more. I was doing so good this summer with my Resolution Project. I was getting buff, working hard. Drinking water, cutting out caffeine. Now I’ve slid completely back to where I started. Bah.

So one more thing to add to the list this week. Must work out at least 3-4 times a week, if not more. Period, no questions asked, no excuses. Working late doesn’t count for anything – there is no point in it if I am personally suffering. The weather is cooling, so if nothing else I can start walking again.

Someone kick me if I’m slacking off, ok? Thanks for looking out for me.

How Did I Forget…

I forgot to mention that I need to install the latest & greatest Event Script to my blog too! Eek! I didn’t forget it so much as I didn’t list it out. So here is my full to-do list – which now displays correctly since I fixed the “expand entries” code!

Just a Tip…

I have seen posts around the weblog world about people signing up for NaNoWriMo. (No, I am not one of them. I am not that crazy – have too much to do already!) I realized this morning that if you are doing that and you are using MT to record your writing, you can also use it to count your words! All you need is the Word count plugin for Movable Type from the Kalsey Consulting Group!

Other nifty plug-ins that I need to run myself include the On this day…, the Sanitize plugin (more on that here), related entries plugin (sample code at Unmade) and many more. Matter of fact, the Kalsey Consulting MT archives are right here if you want some more ideas! (And Kymberlie? They have MTAmazon Sample Templates here.) There are a lot of other plugins listed at the MT Resources page. Check them out!

Houston History…

Everyone keeps telling me that Houston isn’t as bad as I think it is, so now I need to read through websites containing information such as 166 Years of History, The Modern Skyline, The Houston Heritage Society (I enjoyed their Annual Candlelight Tour last time I went), Bayou Bend (the home of Miss Ima Hogg!), and Houston Wet, “a web documentary about the city of Houston, a subdivision that sunk, the flag on the moon … and how we’re building on Earth.” Maybe then I’ll finally agree that Houston is a wonderful city. Then again, we had a subdivision sink … you don’t get quality action like that just anywhere! [via Get Donkey!]
