Don’t you hate it when you don’t know the name of the song just played on the radio? Yes.net can help you out.
Name That Tune…
One of my biggest pet peeves is the fact that they never tell you a song title or the artist when you’re listening to the radio. Sure, sure, they complain that CD sales are down because we’re all downloading them off of Kazaa – but I do that in my desperate search to figure out who is singing the song normally! Nothing is worse then buying a CD and finding out it’s the wrong group or the song you wanted isn ‘t on it.
Well, now you can find out what that snappy tune you heard on the radio was online! If you know which station it was on and what time it was at, you can look it up at Yes.net! How is that for cool? (I’ll probably still check things out on Kazaa before I buy the CD though…) [via Todd]
Name That Tune!
You heard the song in a commercial, and you just *have* to have the CD? But you have no clue as to what the song is? Well, head on over to the music from TV commercials site and figure it out! [via TechTV and Megan Marrone]

Ad Critic used to be good for that type of info… until they went belly-up. At least I know someone who won’t judge me for listening to music from commercials.
*sigh* I miss AdCritic. A lot.

I’d have to agree with you, it’s one of my pet peeves also. Once, I went so far to sit through “90 minutes non-stop rock” to find out the name of one song in particular. Never happened. But a search for a few lyrics in Kaaza provided the necessary info.
oooo… I’m an advocate for not revealing the song title and/or artist until after it’s culmination… as we like to play “Name That Tune” in boredom!
I don’t care if they wait until after the song is over – I just wish they would tell me who it is! It makes it hard to buy the CD without that piece of information!
DAMN! That is beyond cool… bookmarking now 🙂
(and yeah, that drives me nuts too.. or even if they do say who it is, they speed read it – and I’m left scribbling something down that sort of resembles the name but isn’t quite it)
Dude, I hate that radio stations do that.
All you have to do remember some distinctive lyrics and do a Google search when you get home. 🙂
Heh, I haven’t listened to radio stations in forever – they used to be at least somewhat decent about giving the name of the artist and the song … oh well. I usually check out new music on the recommendations of friends by downloading mp3s first. If I like the mp3s, then I buy the album (especially if I like multiple songs from the album).
I hate the way they run radio stations. It’s getting to where I don’t listen to radio anymore. And the RIAA is so out of touch.
Interestingly, about 2 years ago there was a start-up dot com that tried to capitalize on this. They marketed a device that you carried with you and when you heard the song you pushed a button. All the button would do was record the date and time. Then you went to a web site, tried to find the radio station and entered the date and time from your device. This is all documented in Phil Kaplans book F’d Companies.
It is GREAT to see that this idea is still out there in Internet2002 and it doesn’t require purchase. Thanks for the link!
Gonna be a link whore…
I saw this on Christines Blog You can see what song was playing on the radio at a certain time,
