Birthday Lace from Katy!

Do you know what is even better than having friends that knit? Having friends that knit things FOR YOU! Katy said that as she worked on the Diamond Fantasy shawl, she realized that it was really calling my name. So she gave it to me for my birthday! (Well, we couldn’t get together on my birthday, so it was a week later, but still within the “birthday month” so that is still birthday time to me!)

I realized yesterday that I had been remiss and not shared a photo of it on the blog. And this is not the best photo – Mike took it while I was wearing it with my cell phone. But I had to share it.

The yarn is Hill Country Yarns Sweet Feet Sock Yarn, and the pattern is the Diamond Fantasy Shawl. It is so lovely that two complete strangers out in the wild complemented me on it today – and since Katy was with me, I quickly responded with, “She knit it!”

Hmmm… since I’m posting a photo and her knitting details, does this make this post Katy Blogless’s first blog post via proxy? (Please comment on it, as Katy thinks that if she had a knitblog, no one would comment. So I want her to see the commenty love!)

Episode 9, With Fresh Fall Flavor!

I totally cracked myself up with a bit of a goof in the middle of the episode, but I think it adds to the charm so I left it in – as soon as the file finishes uploading, Episode 9 of the Pointy Sticks podcast will be live!

About the Kid & Ewe…

I just realized that there are like 3-4 posts that I thought I had made about different events that I never made. Eep!

Katy Blogless & I have been planning for months to head on over for Kid & Ewe in Boerne, Texas again this year, hopefully with Amy & Kelly in tow and meeting up with Staci. Anyone else in Houston want to come along? After all the fun of the lunch after seeing the Harlot this summer, Julia and I decided that another lunch meet-up in Boerne would be a ton of fun! So Julia contacted the event organizers and they have promised us a place to lunch and tables to use. How cool is that?

Saturday, November 11, 2006 – come join us in Boerne, Texas for Knitbloggerfest 2006! Sure, it isn’t Maryland Sheep & Wool, and it isn’t Rhinebeck, but it is a lot of fun, and there is fiber there to enjoy! Bring a dish for the potluck or a sack lunch for yourself (whatever you prefer) and join us for lunch! Be sure to add yourself to the wiki to let us know if you will be there and what you plan to bring if you’re going to bring a dish. All the details will be at the wiki, so keep an eye on it.

I pointed out to Lion Brand through the form on their site that Kid & Ewe was not listed as an event. I just got the e-mail tonight that they have added it to the list – Calendar of Knitting and Crochet Events. How cool is that? It never hurts to ask about these things.

Oktoberfest, Socktoberfest, and Finish it Friday!

Nose Twins! Since today is “Finish it Friday!” I thought I should maybe finish posting a photo or two from July! Meeting Caro this summer was the final push I needed before I went and pierced my nose. When we met back up in July for the visit of the Yarn Harlot, I had to snap a photo of us together. This was outside of the church while we were in that Post-Harlot euphoria state!

Have you SEEN the bags and card wallets and other goodies that Caro makes? They are fabulous – be sure to check out her Etsy shop!

Thanks to Elemmaciltur, I just learned that Oktoberfest actually started last Sunday in Munich. So that means I can start my Socktoberfest socks today! (Lolly already said we could start whenever we want, but this just adds fuel to the fire to make me start them.) I am really drawn to the fall colors lately The sleeve, pre-frogging – it must be my need for cooler weather. We did actually have a “cold front” come through this week, and the other day it was only 84 at 2pm. Fall is coming!

Since today is Finish it Friday, I’m going to see if there are any socks that I have already knit that need finishing work done on them. You never know where I might have been lazy and not woven in an end! I’m also going to work on getting my sleeve back to the length it was – I frogged over half of it last night. I can’t handle pooling, so I am redoing it and alternating my balls (*snort*) to prevent it. The garter stitch needed to be tighter too, so it is all for the best.
