Pointy Sticks Episode 12!

Episode 12 of the Pointy Sticks podcast is now live. This one contains my first iRiver interview of Zabet from The AntiCraft and I think it is pretty smashing.

There will be more iRiver interviews in the future. The next one planned is with S t a c i, the stashless knitter, on how to survive without a stash. I can hardly wait!

I need to finish my Faith Jacket tonight as I would like to wear it tomorrow if the weather allows. Of course, I have spent 6 hours online today, and haven’t picked it up yet. Brilliant! *rolling my eyes* The knitting is all done, so I am down to just crocheting everything together and weaving in the ends.

Because One Can Never Blog Enough…

Jesus Saves

Ok, so I wrote this great post. And Jesus Saves, but I don’t, so it was lost instead of posting. Ack. Oh well – here it goes again. I’ve decided to move the knitblogging content over to PointySticks. I will cross-post here for a little bit, and continue to post big things here like the fact that my Faith Jacket might just bust the sweater curse of 2006 and I will finally have a sweater in just a few days. If I can find a RSS plugin that will allow me to post excerpts in my sidebar, I will do that – that way you can see here what is going on there and vice versa.

I may end up with multiple personalities by the time this is over. However, it has bugged me for long enough, so I think it is time to do it.

This site will keep the personal stuff, along with the geek posts and the photography stuff.

Speaking of photography, I am also considering starting a 365 day photo project – but photos of things, not myself. I admire too many other people’s self-portraits too much (Mac is the queen of them, in my book), so I don’t think I could even begin to do it justice. But photographing things? That I can do. It is time to finally make the $10 lightbox that I’ve had bookmarked for ages, and I need to get a flash for my camera and learn how to use that too. So many goals, so little time.

For now, I can’t take any pictures at all. My camera battery died on Tuesday, and the battery charger is missing. I have searched high and low, but there is no sign of it. Craptastic. Hopefully Elaine’s charger will work and I can juice up tomorrow, and meanwhile I will end up ordering a new one. Of course, as soon as I get it, the old one will reappear. It always works out like that.

This time, I’m doing the “copy” thing. I’m not writing this post a third time.

Knitting Fool…

Argosy ScarfFirst up, the Argosy scarf. (There are more finished objects to come as soon as I get photos!) I started this as we watched Rice play in their bowl game on December 22nd. I finished most of the first ball of Noro that night, and all was well.

On the 23rd, while we had coffee with Mike’s high school English teacher, I got everything set up so the start of the second ball lined up perfectly with the end of the first ball. Again, all was well.

That night, we went to the Lexington Stitch & Bitch to knit, and I brought the scarf. I worried at first that I would botch the pattern, but after a few minor (and easy to fix) mistakes, and tinking a row or two, I was happily knitting along. And then it happened.

The Noro knot. The infamous Noro knot.

All was no longer well. As much as I love Noro, I freaking hate Noro because of the knots. I thought it was going to be ok at first – the other side of the knot picked up right along in the same color as the I had been working in. Problem is, the yarn color was supposed to go burgundy, purple, pink, purple, blue, and so on. Instead it went purple, pink, purple, pink, purple, blue. There is a LOT of pink and purple in the second half of the scarf. A little blue at the end, and no green at all. Grrrrr. *shaking my fist at the Noro*

It is still lovely, and it was a fun and easy knit. I finished it up on Christmas Eve night, and I will block it this weekend. But I must admit, I’m still bitter about the second half of the scarf.

Scarf Stats:
Pattern: Argosy from Knitty
Yarn: Noro Silk Garden Lite in color #2014, two skeins
Cast-on: December 22, 2006
Cast-off: December 24, 2006

Tired. Still.

Lily

Two days in the car, over 1000 miles logged. I’m tired, and I wasn’t even the one driving it. Allergies have attacked, and my eyes itch and my throat is scratchy.

I needed a flower this morning. It is helping my recovery.

I managed to knit 3.5 strips for my Faith Jacket in the car on the way up; photos to come later. It was perfect car knitting, just as I suspected it would be, with no shaping or stitch pattern to it. I actually knit most of one strip in the dark – garter stitch can be a very good thing!

Episode 11 – Road Trip!

Oh goodness – when you are tired and should be packing instead of podcasting, you tend to ramble. So this episode may be a little “off” – my apologies in advance to everyone! I had to get it out before we went on the road, so the next episode will come out a little early since this one was a little late.

You didn’t notice though, did you?

Check out episode 11, Road Trip! of the Pointy Sticks podcast. Try not to laugh at me too hard.
