Like a Belated Birthday Present…

I asked Jennifer and Kristine a few weeks ago if they knew of a slick way to automate my birthday list for my sidebar. At first I was just going to set up another MT blog, but I couldn’t think of a way to make the dates show up year after year. So what does Jennifer go and do? She creates a script for it, of course! So as soon as I wrap up another project, I’ll be adding it in to my sidebar!

Hey, when is your birthday? Come on … tell me. It’s the only way I can add you to the list!

TrackBack, I Love You…

Brian Kane mentioned in my comments one day that he didn’t get the point of using the Trackback feature. But this post is the perfect explanation of why I like it. I like to know who links to me, when, why … was it a post that inspired you? Something you thought was funny? Were you amused? Heck, do you just want to get my attention? Then TrackBack me! There are so many blogs I like to read, I don’t get to read them all. So I just discovered today that he linked to the Tootin’ Doughboy which he found thanks to my blog. He gives me credit in the post, but had he used TrackBack too I would have known about it two days ago.

This is why I like TrackBack. Oh, and Brian? If you had TrackBack, I’d be pinging you back with this post. It’s all about sharing the love. Now feel free to ping away!

Thanks to Jennifer’s code, I finally got around to adding the ability to expand & collapse entries.

Want to test it out?

Nifty Little Slideshow…

I’ve always wanted to know how to do the slide shows like Dawn does, but until now I didn’t know how. Fortunately she points out on her About page the PHP script she uses. It can be found at zinkwazi.com.

By the way, I made this post for me. That way, months from now when I want to use it I’ll know where to find it. That’s the main reason why I started my blog actually – an easy way to find links that I really like. Why did you start yours?

Housekeeping…

I took some time this evening to go through the other pages on this site and clean up PHP calls that weren’t working correctly. Now all of the pages should be working with the skins. Yeah! I also worked on cleaning up the sidebars on most of the skins, although I have a few left to work on. The main thing that I added was a Media Consumption Blog so that I can easily update the sidebars with information on movies I have seen, books that I have read and so forth. The posts contain very little if any information right now, but as time goes on I will add little mini-reviews when I post new items. Many thanks to Kristine for helping me out with the code to generate the sidebar lists!
