Clean and Fresh!

The new skin is available, but for some reason I can’t get the background to show up on the index page, and I have some random div tags that need to be moved around. I’m about to beat my head on the keyboard over this background not showing up though – I just don’t get it! CSS makes my eyes bleed! Augh! It was working just fine in my test page! (Any CSS gurus have a clue?)

Update: I gave in and added the background to the body tag. It was done using CSS before in the test page though, so I can’t figure out why it won’t work now. Gah.

Absolutely Hideous!

808 (aka Robert) told me not to lose the pink, “it’s too easy to be grey.” Uh huh. I think this is about as ugly as it gets. Then again, the yellow photo featured doesn’t help, but it demonstrates well why I went with the grey.

Just curious – did anyone notice the “Photograph Details”?

How About This…

Many have said that I should keep the pink, or that they would miss the current look of this site. Others have said that they like the Grey template and that it is clean and fresh. I have no intentions of changing the default template – but I did want to offer other “looks” that included the most recent Pixelog photo. I decided to tweak the code a little bit and create this design too as another “coming soon” skin alternative. Pink and fresh, you just get the most recent Pixelog image too.

Ahhhh… the joy of skins. Who knows what else I’ll come up with today…

Coming Soon…

It still needs some work, and I may change it to be just one column instead of having a sidebar – to make it even more zen and simple and clean – but here is a taste of the new cookie skin! What do you think?

Not So Simple…

Here we were pushing for the 100 comments on Mission: Comments, and I go and break the site by trying to install SimpleComments. It’s supposed to be easy as pie – just upload the one file (funny, it doesn’t mention the .pm file) and you’re off.

No, I’m not. It’s not that simple. Instead, I keep getting the same error over and over. Huh, whathuh? Excuse me? Can someone translate that in to English for me – or tell me how to fix it? Of course someone can – the always wonderful Kristine!

Wondering how much I *love* comments? The code that Ste wrote for me will allow me to generate a list of the last 13 unique people that left comments. No repeats. A nice blend of the SimpleComments plugin and some PHP magic. I’ll write a tutorial on it soon over at ScriptyGoddess. I’ve wanted this for months, so I am thrilled that he created it for me in just a few hours today!

Meanwhile – I’ve declared several winners for the 100 mark for Mission: Comments. Mad props go out to everyone for their help – I found a lot of great new reads in there, and I hope you do too! The winners of the shiny new black sporks are… drumroll please…

:: Michael – an H-Town blogger who I will be seeing on Saturday – in person spork delivery!
:: Tina – a fairly new read for me, and I’ve been enjoying her site!
:: LaLaLaura – one of my very first blog reads, years ago!
:: Laserone – a simply faboo site that I have enjoyed reading, plus she sends me cool tips when I ask for them!
:: Ratty – Wow, I remember when Ratty first got in to blogging. Now, news readers. Sweet! RSS is a good thing!

I would happily see that post go up to 500 comments or more. I have some plans in mind if it does! Some of you might remember the photos that kicked off the BPC launch almost a year ago? Isn’t it time for a repeat?
