What?!??!!!

Actor John Ritter dead at 54 – Sep. 12, 2003

I saw it mentioned on Emily’s site earlier, but didn’t really catch it until I spotted it on CNN. John Ritter died. I am still stunned.

I absolutely loved “Three Is Company” when I was little. I watched it all the time. I watched it in reruns. We even played “Three is Company” like some kids play house, especially when we would visit our friends in Champaign – Jenny, Jason & I would play – Jen & I would fight over who got to be Chrissy because we both had blond hair. (We were young. Stop laughing at me.) Even now, I love the show. A lot of good memories there.

I can’t believe he’s dead.

Books Crossing Your Path…

“The man who does not read good books has no advantage over the man who cannot read them.” – Mark Twain

Thanks to Kymberlie’s nudge when Jason & I met up with her for ice cream a few weeks ago, and again on her blog last week, I finally joined BookCrossing. As I mentioned earlier, one of the main reasons I want to ride the bus to work is so that I have more time to read. This just seems like a perfect fit as I finally get through all of my unread books.

I have already set up the beginning of my bookshelf – tell me, where is yours? I know there are a lot of Book Crossing members out there – I would love to add you to my friends list – and who knows where it might go from there! It really is exciting for me, because the last time I checked out Book Crossing there was almost nothing there. Now it is huge! If you haven’t joined already – here’s your chance!

Faking It…

Reading this article on how a fake drivers license is easy to obtain reminded me of something that really, really made me leary of airport security.

Mike went to a wedding in New Jersey over Labor Day weekend. He flew to Newark on Thursday morning. Sure, it was Thursday, and probably not as busy as Friday and Monday would be – but it was still the kick-off of a holiday weekend. Know what happened? He didn’t have to show his drivers license a single time at the airport. No one checked it. No one.

Hello? I thought that the airports were supposed to be more secure? For goodness sake, the last time I flew I had to remove every single battery operated item from our carry on bags, and then take off my shoes while I went through the sensor. Just weeks later, they didn’t even check his license. Granted, I realize he doesn’t look like a terrorist – but that’s not the point. I don’t either. But they should always check your license, no matter what. No questions asked, just check it.

I’m not afraid to fly. However, I have absolutely no faith in airport security and I don’t feel any safer today then I did 2 years ago.

Not Sure Why…

Whenever I hear about things like the Giant asteroid that could hit Earth in 2014, I always think of Kymberlie and her giant asteroids and giant tsunami stories. Way too much Discovery channel… Makes me laugh every time.

Personal Fab Five…

I have a confession. I’m musically clueless. I never know anything by the latest groups, or even not the latest, but the ones I shouldn’t have missed. I seem to stay a pretty steady 2-3 years behind the tunes. It’s sad, but true. But now I have Music Utopia at my fingertips. I seem to be able to access almost anything. (I am annoyed that there is nothing by No Doubt, but that’s the only thing missing so far.) I am having a blast with Listen.com!

Here is where you come in. Can you clue me in to your own personal Fab Five? The artists you just can’t live without? Or your favorite CDs – whatever works for you. I’m just in the mood to explore the musical world out there, and I need YOU to help guide me! I have very eclectic music tastes – I’ll listen to almost anything. It’s up to you to keep me from listening to Rick Astley and the Bee Gees all the time though, ok? (Although right now I’m listening to John Mayer, “Room for Squares”)

Won’t you share? Please? I’ve tried surfing blogs for playlists, but I can only find a few, and I’ve added all those groups already. So I really need you to share your music love!

Update: By the way – if you want to list more than 5, go ahead. I was just thinking of watching Queer Eye at the time I wrote this, so “Fab 5” came to mind! Share, share away!
