Chronic – What? – cles of Narnia…

Prepping for the tests I had on Thursday SUCKED. In so many ways. Ugh. So to get through it, I watched some of the episodes of Saturday Night Live I had on the TiVo. I figured when you’re taking things that make your belly go woo-woo the best thing for it is laughter, right?

So I am out of the “cool things going around” loop obviously, because I had heard NOTHING about the SNL “Lazy Sunday” skit. I laughed so hard I practically cried when I first watched it. Then I called Mike back into the bedroom so he could watch it. (He had heard about it, but not seen it.) Then we watched it again. Then I watched it one more time. I’ve been quoting it ever since, and now I’ve even found a copy to download.

Yes, it is THAT funny. It’s all about the Hamiltons, baby! Bakers Dozen!

Bouncing Along…

Roll Bounce (Widescreen Edition)We watched Roll Bounce today and I *loved* it. I would put it right up there with some of my other favorites, like “Remember the Titans”. Is it a movie you watch for the best acting in the world? No, although I thought the acting was good. It probably isn’t going to be up for any awards any time soon. But it was a movie with a good story, good music, and the skating. Baby, the skating was where it was at! It brought back so many memories of the ’70s, hanging out at the skating rink with my friends, enjoying dancing on wheels. I realized during one part of the movie that I probably love the song “YMCA” because I remember skating to it. Along with the Hokey Pokey. Man, those were the days.

It is a good movie. There are many moments where you will laugh, and even a few where you will cry. (Well, if you’re like me and movies make you cry.) You’ll walk away feeling good. Safe to watch with kids, and you can’t say that too often about most movies. Best perk? You will leave it humming some wonderful ’70s songs. Boogie Woogie ’til you just can’t boogie no more!

Man, I want to go skating now!

Their album is OK, but you should see them live!

Oooooh… Erin posted the link for me, and I think I need to talk Mike & Jason into going to see Harry and the Potters tomorrow night! Blue Willow Bookshop at Memorial and Dairy Ashford, 6pm. Who wants to join us?

Mmm… Chocolate!

Wonka time! But I can’t open it until after my Chemistry test tomorrow.

Can I just say that I am amused that the movie is rated PG for “quirky situations?” How fabulous is that?

Baby Got Back…

After listening to this, I can totally understand Ross & Rachel singing “Baby Got Back” to their baby on Friends.

Even if you hated Friends, you MUST listen to that song. Baby Got Back!

(Jonathan Coulton has a lot of other music – check it out! Give the Ikea song a whirl!)

Update: I think that his science songs will be my study guide for Tuesday’s Biology test which includes the chapter on Cell Division … he has a song on DNA! Woot! Haploid & Diploid cells, genomes and … oh! Such great stuff! (The mp3s are over at the Popular Science site, in their article on “The Future of the Human Body: the Soundtrack.”
