Reasons…

My “Reasons for Love” just aren’t flowing out today. Hmmm… do you think that’s the whole point of the exercise, to stop and think of what you’re thankful for? Well, of course! Maybe it’s using the word “love” in public that is holding me up? Friday before last, Hanna kept saying to Mandy that they were the only single women at Robert’s house that night. I commented that I am still single, and she brought up my post from the day before. Yes, but the ring on my hand is a sterling silver one that I bought, and until the day I am married or at least engaged, I will refer to myself as single. Is that silly? Hmmmm… So I think that’s the quirky hang-up I’ve had as I thought about writing this earlier today. Now I just need to get over it.

Big deep breath.

I do have many, many reasons to think that Mike is wonderful… so here are just a few of them in random babbling order:
:: When I had a horrid headache on Monday he stopped at the store to buy me Excedrin. Then we went to Target where we ran in to Kathy and I got more striped socks, along with some really cute argyle ones.
:: He laughes at my glee over my striped socks, in that good laughter way. I like being able to accessorize with quirky things, and I like that he enjoys it too.
:: He swears that I can channel power from my striped socks. He’s probably right. Super socks, activate!
:: We like the same music for the most part, and we both like to hear it live & in person. I am looking forward to getting out and enjoying the Houston music scene with him.
:: He puts up with my insane quirky moments, and he actually laughs about them and takes them in stride. Even when I’m in my meanie mode.
:: He is not a neat freak. Neat freaks are wonderful as friends, but I can’t date them. They scare me.
:: He came over last night to see me because I had a really long day at work and I was in no mood to be alone. Then he let me babble about my day and he cooked me dinner at the same time. I needed that.
:: Did I mention the whole similar interests thing? But with enough differences to keep things interesting. As I said before – I enjoy learning about new things.
:: However, I don’t enjoy learning about new foods. He has accepted the fact that I’m a picky eater – now he’s working on how to cook around that.
:: The Jason Factor. We had a great time at the Ren Fest on Saturday, and he is all for doing all the things I’ve suggested with Jason – museums, movies, whatever. It’s quite nice.
:: We don’t argue often, and when we have it’s over the silliest of things like the whole MT vs. Blogger debate. In the end, we can both see each other’s side and can appreciate the other person’s point of view.
:: It is nice to be around him – he makes me laugh. Smiling is a good thing.

It’s funny – I don’t want to compare him to the Insignificant Other in any way, and yet I can’t help but look at where I was at a year ago or two years ago (ugh) and think that I’m in a much better place today. Both standing on my own for some time, and in this relationship with him. I’m very thankful for that. It’s a 180-degree change, and I like it.

So there you have my Reasons for Love. I could go on and on … but you know what? There are some things in life that don’t need to be shared.

Reasons for Love…

Today it is time for “Reasons for Love” again, and just because I want to, I will dedicate this edition to Kymberlie (who is currently hosting the meme while Bea takes a break.):

I love Kymberlie because:
:: She puts up with me when I’m in my “sunshine and light” mood, and she is having a crappy day.
:: She opens the blinds for me sometimes so I can have a much needed dose of sunlight.
:: She goes to eat lunch with me, often letting me pick where we go.
:: She makes me laugh with her quirky idiosyncrasies.
:: She pretends to throw boxes at me to amuse me.
:: She listens to me when I need to babble about things.
:: She went shopping with me today so that we could buy striped socks just like Bran’s. (I got the ones on the left in Bran’s photo. She got the ones in the center and on the right.)
:: She put her striped socks on so that we could take photos of them before she left work.

So while she can push me to the edge of my limit and get on my very last nerve at moments – she knows this, we talked about it today at lunch – I still love her dearly. She is my “work wife” after all, and if you spend 9+ hours a day, 5 days a week together, what do you expect? Bliss and happiness ALL the time? Ha! Get a grip. Life has it’s ups and downs, but after over 2 years of working together I wouldn’t trade her in for anyone else.

So there you have it – my reasons to love Kymberlie! *smooch!*
