29 year old Annessa. My name was created when my father decided he wanted Ann and mom elongated that. I heard our name means “friend” in Arabic. In the baby book of names, the cross between Ann and Vanessa=”graceful butterfly”. (I’m liking the friend definition better).

hello to all the annessas from all over. my only daughter’s name is annessa and she’s 18, from the philippines. i also thought not many would have such a name, which i as a mother, of course, spent days thinking about the best name to suit my baby. i had a special devotion to st. anne and st. elizabeth during my difficult pregnancy and i thought a name combining the 2 wonderful saints would be fitting to honor and thank them for keeping watch over me and my baby. and so ANNESSA came to be my baby’s name.

Apparently variations on the name are popular in the west indies. I always thought I was the only one who spelled it this way too!

Hello from Annessa Maria – 42 yrs old, from the Tampa Bay area of Florida.
I have never known of another person with my name – much less the exact spelling – until now… and had no idea there would be so many. This is way cool!
I am a reading teacher at a middle school in Florida, and have had several of the programs I teach covered in the local media; so I knew I could find myself on Google if I put in my first and last name. I never thought I’d find anything with just my first name, though.
A friend of my mother actually named me (which is a long story in and of itself), but I’m not sure how she came up with it. During childhood, people used to shorten it to “Annie” or “Anna”. I tolerated that back then, but now I insist on being called Annessa.
My oldest daughter is Annessa Marie. Strange how so many were named by the parents randomly blending names, yet all have the EXACT spelling. I was partial to my aunt, Anna Marie, and I also liked the sound of the name Anysa – patted myself on the back for years for being creative…it is wild how the human brains are all so closely wired.

My mam could not make her mind up whether to call me Anne or Nessa (Scottish name short for Agnes) so she kept repeating the names over until eventually they came together as Annessa.
