Scott Andrew performed at Fray Cafe at SXSW, and I was lucky enough to get a copy of the “American Thing EP” CD he was passing out at the show. I just popped it in the CD player here at work, and can I just say that this is some good stuff? He offers MP3s for download on his site, if you want to check them out. I highly recommend it!
Two thumbs up for Bryant Gumble, who I am watching right now on David Letterman. They are discussing the fine line between justice & revenge. He made a comment to the effect that to “bomb Afghanistan back to the stone ages” would be making the people already suffering under rule of the Taliban would only make them suffer twice. That he isn’t sure that it is a “logical, generous or even an American answer…”
By the way, my earlier post was not meant to sound like I am not “patriotic” – I hope id didn’t come across that way because that isn’t how I feel. I myself even considered looking for the flags at Wal-Mart tonight (I was in heels and my feet were killing me) but I heard someone say that they were still out. When they get them, I will buy one. I just hate knowing that some people are patriotic for the moment. I want to see it last forever. I am still very concerned about what civil liberties they will expect us to surrender.
Whoo hoo! You can order discounted tickets online for the the Texas Renaissance Festival! Open Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 am to Dark, October 6 through November 18, 2001. I wonder if Nicole is still coming over from Austin for it. Anyone else out there coming? I live only about an hour away, although it takes a little longer to get there those weekends! It’s a great drive out there, and I look forward to going this year! Let me know if you’re coming!
You bet your boots we are going. We wouldn’t miss it for the WORLD! Okay, this is how its working. One set of friends wants to go down the last weekend in October but the other set wants to go down the first weekend in November. So I’m thinking November wins. We are staying overnight in “The Woodlands” at a hotel there by the huge mall. I think its a Sheraton. I’ll find out. Anyway, I hope we can hook up!! We always go Saturday AND Sunday!!!
You know, instead of staying in the Woodlands you could come stay by Willowbrook Mall and be 1 mile away from ME!!! 🙂 (The Woodlands, while on the same side of town, are about a 40 minute drive) Did you see that the discount ticket prices online are through 9/21? Anyways, I’ll e-mail you. Both weekends work for me, I think… We WILL get together!!

I downloaded Scott’s stuff the other day, and it’s fantastic. Yay! Now what he needs to post up there is a copy of that 80’s medley he played at Fray. That was hysterical.
