The Latest Breakthrough…

A scientist from Texas A&M University has invented a bra that keeps women’s breasts from jiggling and prevents the nipples from pushing through the fabric when cold weather sets in.

At a news conference announcing the invention, a large group of men took the scientist outside and kicked the shit out of him.

One of Those Days…

I think Jason has my cold now. However, instead of being congested, he has eye boogers. Seriously. Itchy, watery eyes. He also says he has a scratchy throat. We have an appointment for him today with a different doctor (not related to this), so now I’m trying to work in to see his pediatrician around the other appointment while keeping him from missing as little school as possible.

Although now that I say that, I guess if he’s sick he shouldn’t be up there giving the cootie-love to all the other kids, should he?

I hope he doesn’t get the full blown crud though – I’m soooooo tired of this. It’s funny, I feel more motivated to do things then I have in weeks, and yet I just feel weary and drained, and doing things takes a lot of effort. On top of it all, I just want someone to poke my sinuses with a pin and make them pop or something – the pressure! Ugh. Then there is the drainage cough – I sound like I am going to bring up a lung when that starts. Fortunately, it’s rare – but it still hurts.

I really seriously hope he doesn’t have the same thing. How wrong is it for me to secretly hope he has pink-eye? (But they are not red at all.) Hmmm…

The Finale of The Amazing Race…

The Amazing Race this year was … well, amazing. Yeah, ok, that was lame – but while I still consider season 1 the best, this season was really, really, really good. I enjoyed it a lot. Jason even got in to it this season, and so we watched the finale together this afternoon. My team won. He was cheering for the team that ended up in second place. He kept complaining whenever my team would get ahead, and I finally had to tell him to stop. Commentary during high-stress season finales is just not cool.

This season had a lot of memorable quotes in it, but my favorite from the finale had to be when Chip said, “we’re on like Donkey Kong!” I think I’m going to use that one all the time now.

Spoilers in the comments. Don’t read them if you don’t want to know the final results. For the rest of you (I’m looking right at Promo and Meryl), I would LOVE to know your thoughts on The AMAZING Race!

(Donna, it’s still on my Tivo. I’ll see if I can get my VCR to work and make you a copy. I think they may be showing it again on Saturday too, so there is still a chance for you to see it!)

It’s Our Turn for Ivan…

Hurricane Ivan has been downgraded to a Tropical Depression, but it’s out in the Gulf of Mexico again and is gaining speed – it will probably be upgraded to a Tropical Storm by the time it hits the Texas coast. It’s expected to hit Galveston Island by tomorrow night.

I had a feeling before that Ivan would be heading our way – we didn’t get the brunt of the storm, but with the other front lingering over us I’m afraid we’ll have a repeat of what happened a few years ago from Tropical Storm Allison. After you are hit with 20 inches of rain in 24 hours, you have a healthy respect (or rather fear) of rain coming down again.
