Welcome to the Real World…

Try not to laugh. I bought “The Matrix” on DVD when I got my DVD player in November, 2000. I’ve owned it for almost two and a half years. Yet I have never watched the movie. That is, until tonight. Yes, I am finally watching it after all this time.

I knew when I saw the previews for “The Matrix” that I would like it. I loved the concept behind it – there really is no reason why I’ve never actually seen it.

We warmed up with “X-Men” first, which was really good. Now I am ready to go see “X-Men 2” tomorrow, and in two weeks I can see “The Matrix Reloaded”. Yeah, the rest of you have been waiting years for it – I justs have to wait two weeks. Pretty smart, huh?

“Remember, all I’m offering is the truth. Nothing more.”

I Wanna Be Like Mike…

I’ve mentioned in the past that I know a lot of people named Mike. When we were at SXSW, all of the Mikes there ended up with nicknames so that we could keep them straight. Coffee Mike, Moose Mike, Beta Mike (also known as Mike the Lawyer), Disney Mike, and the list went on.

So it shouldn’t be a surprise that my latest spam had a subject line of “Mike Wants You to See This”. I figured that Mike probably saw something that he knew I would be interested in and sent me an e-mail about it using the “E-mail to a Friend” options that some sites have. Nope. It was spam, and I was suckered in to opening it. This weekend, I’m installing iHateSpam after reading Jennifer’s testimonial about it. The softwares is free after rebate on Amazon right now, so if I like it I’ll order a full copy. I’m still waiting on the pointers from Matt on anti-spam tactics too. Have any tips that you want to share?

I am going to win this battle. Oh yes, yes, I am.

I Need Assistance in the ER…

Tivo recorded tonight’s episode of NBC.com >ER, but I didn’t realize that the president was on earlier, so ER ran until 10:20 or so. This would have been all good and well if I had turned on the TV and spotted the delay before 10:50 tonight – when it was too late to catch the ending in real time.

I tried looking at the website for the synopsis there, but it goes from last week’s episode, to next week’s episode – which, by the way, is number 200 and features “innovative storytelling.” Also, when I checked out Television Without Pity, it’s not listed there either. It’s the mystery episode!

Can anyone hook me up? I really, really want to know what I missed! I put the details up to the point the recording ended in the extended entry portion (so I wouldn’t spoil it for anyone). Help!

It’s Live!

BlogShares is live! It seems I was 22 minutes late to the party – all of the stock in MT and all of the other “biggies” on my list are already gone. The server is moving at a slow crawl. I may just wait to amass my fortune another day…

Random Ramblings on Noteworthy Things…

Just a few long list of things that I wanted to point out:

:: Two glasses of water and two Excedrin, and I’m feeling perfectly fabulous this morning. Jose Cuervo is still a friend of mine.

:: To the uber-creepy guy at Sambuca last night: when Jen tells you she isn’t interested, she means it. Don’t follow us out of the club (walking a block behind us) and then get in your car and try to find us in downtown. As if you weren’t creepy enough, you hit the ultimate freak factor.

:: Not only do I need to post photos from last night, I still need to post photos from two weeks ago when Mike, Matt and I met up with Leia, Julie, Jason and Amanda Who Does Not Blog. I can’t decide if I should share the secret of the Big Red Button – one of the best things to do in Downtown Houston. Maybe I’ll share the details but not disclose the location.

:: I also have to post the photos from the last H-Town Blogs gathering that I went to, hosted by Kathy at Tropica. Oops.

:: I have a lot of photos to post.

:: My Cookie Crumbs section is only on the default skin right now and the gray version of the default skin. I may add it to the others this weekend. I am also working on a minimalist skin with no sidebar. I don’t know when that will launch though.

:: Speaking of launches, I’m anxiously waiting for the Blogshares launch today. Soon, I hope.

:: Speaking of site redesigns, I’ve considered ditching my blogroll all together and just linking to the last 13 (Baker’s Dozen) people that have left comments. However, I can’t figure out how to keep duplicates off the list – if someone comments two times in a row, I only want the name to show up once. Also, if there is no URL filled in on the comment, I don’t want the name to show up at all.

:: I keep having reservations about making the change though. Maybe I’ll just stick to the blogroll, which still needs some more feng shui.

:: Dive Into Mark’s site still crashes my browser and locks up my computer. IE 6, Win98 (it’s work, I don’t have a choice). Not on the main page, but on every subpage of the site. Brenna’s site now has the same effect, and I don’t know why. Meanwhile, my site locks up Erika’s work computer with IE and Win95 (and I thought I had it bad with Win98). I have no clue why. Anyone have any ideas?

:: It took me weeks to figure out that Robert’s site, Truck808 should be read as “Truck Bob”. It probably didn’t help that I’ve never called him Bob, but it wasn’t until he mentioned Truck5on_02 (son #2) that I figured it out. Obviously, I’m not as l33t as I once thought. SuXor. However, I’m still all about the Swirl.

:: Tales for the L33t is still so hysterical that it makes me laugh to the point of tears. Romeo & Juliet doesn’t get any better than this. Watch it now – I’ll be here when you come back.

:: Jen is real. I know, and I’m here to testify. She’ll tell you that I am real too. What you see is what you get.

:: Fortunately, I think almost every blogger I’ve met in person to date is pretty real. I know that’s not true of all of them though – but I’ve been pretty lucky.
