Ouch…

I have more pain today than I have had since I came home. Not major pain, but more dull constant pain. Guess it is time to up the pain killers and just take a nap because I hate the loopy effect.

Who can complain about an excuse to take a nap though? 😉

Home.

Home at last
The doctor decided yesterday that I had reached the point in recovery where the thing I needed most was rest. If you’ve ever spent the night in the hospital, you know just how hard it is to get rest there – the noises in the hallway, the people coming in and out to give you meds and to draw blood at 5am and everything else … you just don’t get to sleep. So we waited until I was feeling up to it, and we made sure that the new pain meds were ok (I’ve gotten sick from some in the past and didn’t want to have to deal with that after we left), and once everything checked out we headed for home.

It was nice to get 10 mostly uninterrupted hours of sleep in my own bed last night. I feel soooo much better today. You should definitely check out how meditation helps you sleep better.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone for all of your well wishes. I’m having to limit computer time over the next few days, but I hope to write everyone directly soon. Your support truly means a lot to me!

Postponed.

Surgery is postponed. It seems that having a Hemoglobin of 7.7, when about 12.2 is normal, is not an advised way to go into surgery. I’m officially quite anemic. Too much of a risk for a need for transfusions, and just my body is too weak in general.

However, we need to stop the bleeding – obviously – before it gets even worse. So the possible solution for that? Lupron. Chemical menopause. Once my cardiologist approves, that is. Good thing I have a pre-op appointment for tomorrow with her, although it is going from a pre-op appointment to a “what is ok to do next” appointment.

I am *so* over all of this. Sigh.

Nothing New…

I went back to Dr. P yesterday since the girly issues seemed to get better and then get worse while I was out of town. Of course, everything was pretty normal yesterday, and he didn’t actually examine me. He did take the time to talk with me though, so that was a good thing.

– I still have fibroids. No shock there.
– Surgery, still scheduled for November 14th.
– He will be doing a laproscotomy at the same time to check on the ovarian cyst.
– After surgery, it is best if I stay on the pill to prevent future fibroids.
– Of course, with blood pressure issues, being on the pill isn’t such a great idea.
– The other option is to have a tubal ligation and then remove my uterine lining. The reason for the tubal is to make sure I never get pregnant after that, because that would cause all sorts of other problems.
– I’m not ready to make that decision. So for now, I’ll stay on the pill.

So now I just wait for surgery in just over a week. I’m looking forward to lots of knitting time in my future.

Temporary Solution Update…

Finally, finally!, finally the “take two birth control pills a day” solution seems to be working. I found out that if I take them 12 hours apart, that is the key. So things are finally getting better. Good thing too, because yesterday did not start off well – the iron deficiency was really obvious. I felt woozy and dizzy a few times, especially after taking a shower – I think the heat got to me. I ate meat every chance I could get and took an iron tablet, and by about 3pm or so I was feeling much better. Adreniline probably helped take over too, since that is about the same time that Regina and I started shooting the wedding here in Asheville!

So I made it through the day just fine, and I’m pumping up on iron and water today and feeling pretty darn good. Whew! Attending a workshop all week while feeling less than human would not be fun.

The weather here is AMAZING. Amazing!!! As someone said, we had a “Chamber of Commerce” day for the wedding yesterday. Outdoors with the groomsmen for a few hours? No problem – we didn’t even break a sweat. It was a bit cool when the sun went down, and we were pretty cold by the time we walked 3-4 blocks back to the car, but I would rather be cold any day than hot! One of the best men commented on how it was like summer for him, coming from Colorado. I commented that it was like winter for me, coming from Houston!

We were exhausted by the time we were driving home, but needed a few essentials and stopped at Ingles to pick them up – only to discover that someone has bought one of those crazy witches!!! Can you believe it? I mean… WOW.
